Reminders & Tips for a Successful Academic Year

  • myMBA - The myMBA website is your primary resource for program information. It contains announcements, advising appointment information, academic calendars and class schedules, specialization requirements, registration forms and much more. We highly recommend that all students bookmark the site in order to access it easily as you will need to reference it frequently throughout the program.
  • Email - Remember to check your W&M email account daily. All communication from your faculty and the MBA Programs faculty will go to your W&M email.
  • Outlook Calendar - The MBA Programs team will frequently send invitations to required and optional events through the Outlook calendar system. These calendar invitations will generate an email asking you to confirm your attendance. We ask that you please use the Outlook calendar system and respond to calendar invitations sent from the program in timely manner.
  • Communicating with the MBA Programs Team - Please send emails to mbaprogram@wm.edu. We ask that you not email individual members of the MBA Program directly. Each of us has access to and monitors the MBA Programs inbox and sending emails directly to the program will ensure that you receive the quickest response.
  • Communicating with your Faculty - If you have specific concerns related to assignments, exams, grades, attendance, or any other issues inside of the classroom, please communicate directly to your faculty. Communicating with them early and often will enable them to best help you and provide the support that you need.
  • Program Participation - You will have many opportunities to attend and participate in a variety of programs and events throughout the year. Some of them will be required, and others will be optional. If you are planning to attend an event, please RSVP by the given deadline. If you RSVP to attend an event, be sure to show up and participate. Our office and partners across the Mason School community work hard to provide you with opportunities to grow and enhance your experience while in the program.

Leadership & Business Podcast Spotlight:

Culture & the CEO, with Jeff Barna

As all leaders know, leadership comes with opportunities and challenges. But leading an organization whose parent company is located in another country poses a different set of challenges, especially when the cultures of the two countries are quite different. Jeff Barna is President and CEO of Yokohama Tire Corporation. He oversees the organization's business in North America. The parent company - Yokohama Rubber Company - is in Tokyo, Japan, where it was founded in 1917.

Under Barna's direction, the organization has experienced solid growth, and the relationship between the leaders in the US and Japan has contributed to the success. While visiting William & Mary last week, Barna took time to join us to talk about the importance of company culture, the tire industry, and how liberal arts education prepared him for leadership.

Everett and host Phil Wagner talk about the very means and challenges of creating a DEI infrastructure for both leaders, employees, and more.
