Up to 46% Savings on Red Mountain Powerhouses from Chris Gorman!

The Red Mountain appellation has been described as Washington State's Grand Cru region. Nested inside the Columbia Valley, this incredibly dry outcropping of gravel loam soils receives less rain than Phoenix, Arizona, a mere seven inches per year!

Berries on the high-elevation, sagebrush covered vineyards are up to 60% smaller than those of the broader Columbia Valley, and it sees roughly two more hours of sunshine per day than Napa Valley. With only 1100 planted hectares, it is smaller than Bordeaux's prestigious Pauillac appellation which is cited by Jeb Dunnuck as a comparison to one of today’s wines.

Today we bring you three full-throttle reds from Red Mountain specialist Chris Gorman, each at prices SIGNIFICANTLY below the market. From the 2018 and 2016 vintages, these opulent, rip-roaring wines have had just the right amount of time to harmonize in the bottle and are drinking at their prime.

2018 Gorman "The Evil Twin" Syrah-Cabernet Blend

Red Mountain, Columbia Valley, Washington

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sacrebleu! Combining 65% Syrah and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon might get you the guillotine in France, but on Red Mountain it delivers a "ripe, sexy" and "pedal-to-the-metal" thunderous beauty!
Prime for drinking now and over the coming 3 to 4 years, we delighted in the transformation it exhibited over the evening as it saw more oxygen. This deep, sumptuous wine has tremendous pairing potential with black mole sauces, brisket chili and smoked pork chops - or enjoy it on its own.
"The deep purple-hued 2018 The Evil Twin boasts an exotic, pedal-to-the-metal, full-bodied style that carries lots of darker berry and even wild strawberry-like fruits as well as notes of sandalwood, orange blossom, and flowers. It’s ripe, sexy, and full-bodied, and while I don’t expect it to make old bones, it brings the fruit without being heavy! The blend is 65% Syrah and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in new barrels."
          - 94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (5/6/2021)
Jeb quotes $75. Median online retail is $64. You won't find any vintage of this powerhouse for anywhere near today's price!
2018 Gorman "The Bully" Cabernet Sauvignon
Red Mountain, Columbia Valley, Washington
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This Cabernet blew us away. Seamless and complete, it wears its weight wonderfully. Time in the bottle has served it exceptionally well, integrating its 100% new French oak upbringing impossibly well. We love Jeb’s take...

“Reminds me of a great Pauillac, only on steroids.”

 - Jeb Dunnuck, May 2021

The confluence of dusty gravel and graphite-laden black currant and black cherry fruit with classy cedar, coffee bean, and cigar wrapper conspire to make an inarguably delicious and complex wine. A slam dunk 93 Points on our conservative scale, it is a masterclass in quality Red Mountain terroir. Immediately impressive from the pop of the cork, this world class, hedonistic red is for lovers of Cabernet Sauvignon from anywhere in the world.

"Lots of toast, lead pencil, graphite, and darker currants emerge from the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon The Bully, which reminds me of a great Pauillac, only on steroids. Based on 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, all from Red Mountain, it’s full-bodied, has building tannins, lots of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. Drink it over the coming 10-15 years. Maturity: 2021 - 2036."

          - 94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (5/6/2021)

"Precise and potently structured, with expressive blackberry, toasty spice and flinty mineral accents that build tension toward broad-shouldered tannins. Best from 2022 through 2030. 1,050 cases made."

          - 93 Points, Wine Spectator (10/15/2021)

Red Mountain, Columbia Valley, Washington

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chris crafted a mere 150 cases of this beautiful red. 100% Cabernet from Red Mountain was raised in six new French oak barrels. At eight years of age, this powerful wine is just entering its peak drinking window.
"Another 100% Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in new oak, the 2016 The Albatross sports a deep purple color to go with its ripe, powerful bouquet of cassis, spicy oak, crushed flowers, and blood orange. It's full-bodied, has beautiful freshness, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish, with tons to love. It's a complete, balanced, totally satisfying Washington State Cabernet to drink over the coming 10-15 years."
