If you are applying through Georgetown's institutional process (deadline for all materials is September 1, 2024 at 12 PM NOON ET), please complete this very brief Intent to Apply form today or as soon as possible.

This important information will help us prepare for the campus committee evaluation and mentorship process.

Still Attending Advising Appointment?

By this point in the Fulbright application cycle, we've hosted many meaningful advising appointments with interested applicants.

NOTE: If you've scheduled an advising appointment anytime during the month of August and 1) are not applying this cycle and/or 2) will not attend your advising appointment, please cancel your meeting today or ASAP.

Canceling early (versus right before the appointment) is incredibly important given the high volume of appointment requests we have leading up to the September 1 internal deadline.

By now, you should have reached out to your recommenders and, if required, language evaluators and affiliation contacts. Register your confirmed recommenders and evaluators in the Fulbright application portal! All application materials, including letters and forms, are due by September 1, 2024, at 12 PM NOON ET.

IMPORTANT: If you are applying through Georgetown's institutional process, you are required to fill out the 2024-2025 Fulbright Waiver and Agreement Form. Take a minute to do so today!

ALSO: As explained on our website: "The center reserves the right to not match with a campus mentor applicants who LOCK incomplete draft applications by the September 1 internal due date."

Other Essay Tips

  • After you've written a draft of your Personal Statement and Statement of Grant Purpose, look again at the questions Fulbright has asked you to address to ensure you have done so adequately in your text.
  • When drafting your Statement of Grant Purpose, as we have previously noted in Fulbright Friday, it may be useful to use keywords to introduce each section of your essay, such as Previous Work on Topic:, Academic/Research Questions:, Methods:, Timeline:, Host Country Engagement:, Curriculum Relevance:, etc. Given space limitations, these keywords can be placed right at the beginning of the opening line of the relevant paragraph text. Remember: Keywords can be helpful for application reviewers who are reading many essays!
