Supervisor's Update

Reflecting on the joyful celebrations last week, the Fourth of July brought together family and friends with the sounds of laughter, the sizzle of barbecue grills, and the vibrant hues of fireworks lighting up the night sky. It’s a day when we come together to reflect on our shared history, our freedoms, and the spirit of unity that defines America. But as we enjoyed the festivities this year, there’s a special excitement brewing in our community of North Castle. In just two years, on July 4, 2026, we’ll be celebrating a momentous occasion: America’s 250th anniversary!

The anticipation is palpable, and the newly formed North Castle Revolutionary War 250th Committee is already hard at work, planning a spectacular celebration for this historic milestone. Our charming downtown Armonk will be transformed into a hub of excitement, brimming with activities that promise fun for the entire family. Imagine the streets lined with families for a grand parade, the aroma of delicious food floating through the air, and the sounds of joyous music filling every corner. From games and prizes to live bands and, of course, a breathtaking fireworks display, this event will be one for the history books.

But to bring this vision to life, we need your help! The North Castle Revolutionary War 250th Committee is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join them in creating a celebration that our community will cherish for years to come. Whether you’re interested in helping with the parade, organizing games, or simply lending a hand wherever needed, your contribution will be invaluable. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of something truly special, to connect with your neighbors, and to make a lasting impact on our town’s legacy. Join in making history. Volunteer today with the North Castle Revolutionary War 250th Committee and be a part of a celebration that will echo through the ages.

During my most recent visit to the Hergenhan Community Center, I had the pleasure of joining the vibrant seniors during their Active Adults 60+ Social time. It was a lively scene with friends catching up, laughter echoing through the room and a spirited game of BINGO about to start. This wonderful gathering occurs every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 AM to 1:30 PM, offering seniors a chance to engage in games, participate in exercise classes or simply relax and enjoy their lunch together. While there, some seniors voiced their concerns about the speeding on Maple Avenue. They expressed that the excessive speed of drivers around the bend makes it particularly dangerous when entering and exiting the parking lot of the community center. The lack of visibility combined with the high speeds poses a serious risk to their safety. I kindly ask everyone to please slow down and drive carefully through our charming town, ensuring it remains safe for all our residents, young and old.

Liz Duffy, the Recreation Leader for Seniors, organizes the enriching social times along with other fantastic programs for our North Castle seniors. One of the upcoming highlights includes an enjoyable Hudson River cruise and lunch at the River Grill restaurant on Thursday, August 28th. Additionally, tickets went on sale last week, for the annual Christmas Spectacular with lunch at Carmine’s in the city on Thursday, December 5th. For more details or to register for these exciting activities, visit the Town of North Castle website.

Our town is alive with the sounds of music, thanks to the ongoing performances that light up the Armonk Square and the gazebo at Wampus Brook Park. These events are a wonderful way to enjoy our community’s vibrant atmosphere, offering a perfect opportunity to explore local shops and support our businesses. The live music events, organized with the support of the Chamber of Commerce along with Fortina and North Castle Parks and Recreation, not only enrich our cultural scene but also strengthen our local economy. It's a great chance to grab a coffee, browse the stores, and connect with neighbors while enjoying the talents of local musicians.

Meanwhile, our town pool is another gem that deserves a shout-out. As the summer heats up, the pool becomes a refreshing haven for residents of all ages. It’s a great place to cool off, stay active, and spend quality time with family and friends. We owe a big thank you to Matt Trainor, our Superintendent of Parks and Recreation along with his dedicated staff, for their hard work in maintaining and running this valuable community asset. Their efforts ensure that our pool is a clean, safe, and welcoming spot for everyone to enjoy.

Mark your calendars for a fantastic family fun afternoon at the Banksville Independent Fire Department, as the celebrate their 75th Anniversary on Saturday, July 20th. This milestone event promises an afternoon filled with music, delicious food and lively dancing, and it will go on rain or shine! It’s a wonderful opportunity to support our local heroes who keep our community safe. Bring your family and friends to join in the festivities and show your appreciation for our dedicated firefighters. Let’s come together to celebrate and make this an unforgettable anniversary!

Don’t miss out on the vibrant cultural heritage celebrations sponsored by the Westchester County Park at the Kensico Dam Plaza. On the 14th, come and enjoy the rich traditions of Irish culture and on the 21st, immerse yourself in the lively festivities of the Italian culture. Both events begin at 12 PM and promise a delightful afternoon filled with music, food and cultural performance. Join in celebrating the diverse heritage of our community and make these events apart of your summer fun.

So, whether you’re tapping your feet to the beat in Armonk Square or making a splash at the pool, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy all that our town has to offer. Let’s come together, support our local businesses, and celebrate the vibrant community spirit that makes our town so special.
