WHAT WE DO

WE SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS IN NEED

Working directly with ACC's Financial Aid office and the ACC Writing Center, we hold scholarship application workshops throughout the year. These workshops vary from general information sessions on topics such as:

  • What a scholarship is
  • How to write a personal statement for a scholarship application
  • Start to finish assistance for students to complete their application

These workshops are opportunities for students to work with the ACC Foundation, Financial Aid, and the Writing Center to understand how to put a scholarship application together. Sometimes students are unfamiliar with what we are looking for in a scholarship application, and these workshops give them the opportunity to ask questions in a comfortable setting so they can get the help they need to complete an application.

Tired of the Landlord Business?

Rental property can be a terrific investment—one that provides steady income, asset appreciation and specific tax advantages. For investors willing to assume the responsibilities of being a landlord, it can be a great way to build financial wealth.

Over time, however, some people grow weary of maintaining the various responsibilities of property management—the leaky faucets, clogged gutters and tenant relationships. The rental income is nice, but the work grows tiresome. And the tax implications of selling a rental property can present new challenges.

If someone philanthropically-inclined is looking for an ‘exit strategy’ regarding a rental property, a Charitable Remainder Trust to benefit Arapahoe Community College might be an interesting option to consider.

STUDENT STORY

Image: American Association of University Women: Douglas County Scholar, Daniela.

Daniela is the ACC Foundation’s inaugural American Association of University Women: Douglas County Scholar. Daniela has a passion for health care and helping individuals in need. She is currently dual enrolled in the ADN and BSN Nursing programs. Before that, she received her Medical Assistant and CNA certificates. Her goal is to earn her BSN and start a career in Orthopedics, Bones, and Trauma. She is on pace to receive her ADN this coming spring, and then complete her BSN next fall. When she is not doing clinicals or in class, she is spending time her with 8-year-old son.

Daniela is so thankful for the support she has received from scholarships.

“Thank you so much for the scholarship. I cannot tell you how much this helps me pay for college and also be more successful due to not worrying about student debt.”
