The Future of Work is Diverse, Inclusive, Just and Equitable
GlobalMindED closes the equity gap by creating a capable, diverse talent pipeline through connections to role models, mentors, internships for low-income students, returning adults, First Gen to college and inclusive leaders who teach them, work with them and hire them.

From the Barrio to M.D. to Eisenhower Fellow and Tech Entrepreneur, Seeing Failure as Path to Success: Meet Dr. Jose Morey, M.D.
Dr. José Morey, M.D. is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Ad Astra Media LLC, an Eisenhower Fellow, and a Co-Founder of Ever Medical Technologies. He is a health and technology keynote speaker, author, and consultant for NASA, Forbes, MIT, the United Nations World Food Program, and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. He is considered the world's first Intergalactic Doctor and is often featured on Forbes, Univision, CNBC, and NASA360. He coined Puerto Rico as the future "Silicon Island” as appeared in Forbes, The Weekly Journal, Reddit and Hispanic Executive. Additionally, along with Frank Carbajal, he is co-author of "LatinX Business Success" by Wiley Publishing – recently highlighted as #1 on Amazon.
What key moments in your life led you to where you are today?
I grew up in ‘El Verde’ which is a poor working-class, low-income ‘Barrio’ in Caguas Puerto Rico. But I was lucky, I was the youngest in my family and my father worked very hard and worked his way up the corporate ladder. He moved us from being a low-income family to being a very typical middle-income family towards the end of my high school and into my college career, and then I was very fortunate to receive a lot of scholarships to help with college! Biggest challenge that I've had in life has been, from an external perspective, overcoming biases towards Latinos. Especially within the tech space. Greatest internal challenge I have faced in life is learning that it's OK to fail and that it's a part of the process of growing and becoming successful. What inspired me to be an entrepreneur was the ability to “world build” and create a world how I want to see it, how I view the world as it should be, and try to solve difficult problems with a unique background of being a physician and Puerto Rican.
Where does your passion to serve come from?
I founded Ad Astra Media because I saw a need to create diverse stories that were by us for us. I saw that many kids from all underrepresented communities didn't find community in many STEAM circles. I wanted to create stories that would plant the seeds for their future dreams. I wanted kids from BIPOC, LGBTQ, neurodiverse, and mixed-ability communities to have heroines and heroes that looked like them. To show them through animation, gaming, books, and comics that their future was literally boundless. Kids are dreamers. And if they can see it, they can be it. But too often kids from underserved communities have limited role models in popular media that come from STEAM fields or worse, they have no representation at all. I also wanted to give creatives from those communities a platform to be able to tell their stories. The stories they didn't get to see as they grew up. The stories that are too seldom told and yet are so often needed.
How can GlobalMindED help you reach your goals?
GlobalMindED can help us share the word about what Ad Astra Media's mission is, how we are supporting our mission, and what amazing projects we are working on! From illustration to animation and VR/AR to Metaverses, we are producing a variety of digital and print media to reach the transmedia generation. We strongly support a more assorted group of professionals within these careers. This starts with our next generation... a generation of ambitious individuals, growing up in a transmedia world, who deserve to see the possible opportunities of their future.
