PALOMARES FAMILY LEGACY

Muriel Faith O'Brien Education Series

GINGER ELLIOTT CENTER | Talk / Booksigning with Chris Palomares

As a child, Chris William Palomares would marvel at the rich history of the Palomares Family Adobe. As a teen Chris would make a promise to himself that he would someday continue the book written in the 1920s by Bess Adams Garner “Windows In An Old Adobe”. Chris's Tia Carmelita Mata Palomares would enrich Chris with the romantic notions about his ancestors and how they lived in Pomona under the groves in the Palomares Adobe. Chris lived with his Tia Carmelita during his turbulent teen years in Rosemead, California. Carmelita would adopt Chris as her own and would bring Chris as she attended meetings with "Los Californios," a conscientious historical organization that would even further instill Chris's curiosity and wonders about his ancestors and how California owed so much respect and admiration for its rich historical treasure that is the Palomares Family of California. Chris retired in 2022 and resides in Sacramento, California. Chris will now tell you his story some 50 years in the making.
