Our students worked alongside their teachers to gain hands-on experience in gardening. This collaborative effort allowed students to learn about plant biology, soil science, and environmental stewardship in a practical, engaging way. The garden is universally designed with concrete pavers for wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers, raised beds, and picnic tables with one side open for wheelchair accessibility. For many of our students with physical disabilities, these activities provide critical sensory experiences and enhance fine and gross motor skills.
Gardening also supports our students' cognitive and emotional development. Engaging in gardening tasks helps build patience, responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. It fosters teamwork and social interaction, creating an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
