POSTER ART - PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD
Madison Henggeler, a PPIHC course official received the People's Choice Award in the 2024 PPIHC Poster Art Contest. She was awarded $250. “I’ve lived in Colorado most of my life, explained Henggeler. "I love the scenery of the Pikes Peak region and I love living at the base of our mountain. I’m excited to share my artwork with the community this year. I chose Jeremy Foley’s Evo 8 because I know Evo Corner is iconic to the PPIHC. During race week I drive past it every morning and know how easy it could be to miss. That being said, I knew it would be perfect for the theme: Often Challenged. Rarely Conquered.”

"It makes me so happy to see a new generation of tuners building cars to run the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Robert owns and runs Studio RSR, a roll cage and tuning shop in Southern California. His dream was to run his car up the hill and, as a rookie, he was able to do a ten minute run despite losing power halfway up the hill. There is so much more time left in that Toyota Supra so hopefully we get to see him again soon."

MEET NEW PPIHC BOARD MEMBER
Meet Matt Angelidis, MD
PPIHC Medical Director
Dr. Matthew Angelidis, a board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician completed his medical school training at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences before completing residency training at Madigan Army Medical Center and the University of Washington in 2010. He served a total of 14 years active duty including stints in the Middle East. He has worked as a pre-hospital Physician Medical Director for Fire and EMS services throughout his career. Following the completion of his Army service in 2017, Angelidis joined UCHealth as the Physician Medical Director for the EMS Center of Excellence. He serves as the Physician Medical Director for approximately 30 EMS agencies across the Plains to Peaks RETAC including as Co-Chief Medical Director for Colorado Springs Fire Department and AMR.
Angelidis was intrigued by the challenge of bringing UCHealth Memorial's world class Level I Trauma Care to America's Mountain. The allure of pitting man and machine against the elements of Pikes Peak - America's Mountain is one of the purest forms of motorsports, and the inherent risk of this competition motivated him to get involved. "It is an honor to be a member of the PPIHC Race Safety Team and the Board of Directors, and I look forward to spending June on the mountain with this extraordinary team of professionals. I'm here to optimize safety and empower our competitors to attack the 156 turn, 12.42 mile mountain course!"
Growing up on the East Coast, outside of Richmond, he has been a racing fan and motorsport enthusiast throughout his life. He has fond memories of racing BMWs with his Dad and riding sport bikes.

JUNE FUN IN THE PIKES PEAK REGION
PPIHC TRIVIA ANSWER:
A. and C.
Louie was known fondly as "The Old Man of the Mountain" since he reportedly paid his entry fee one year with his Social Security check!
His nephews, Bobby, Al, Louis J, and Jerry, who each raced on Pikes Peak, referred to him as "Uncle Louie," a term adopted by friends and fans. It was easy to consider him a member of the family with his welcoming smile and warm personality.
