The Aweida name is likely familiar to PPIHC fans, as her father, Dan, and brother, Trevor, are both competitors.

EXPLORING HISTORY

66 YEARS LATER, THE HALL TEAM RETURNS TO PIKES PEAK

Jim Hall II, son of engineering and racing luminary Jim Hall is responding to the undeniable call of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and entering the 102nd edition of the Race to the Clouds.

66 years ago, Chuck Hall borrowed his brother's (Jim Hall) 1958 Corvette and powered his way to a third place finish on the dirt course.

Jim's father ran number 66 on his innovative Chaparral cars in the highly competitive CanAm series in the 1960's and 70's. The synchronicity of numbers is not lost on Jim. As the closest number available, he will run number 6 on his Porsche 991.2 Cup Car.

With a year of preparation and focused time on World of Racing simulators, Jim Hall is ready to tackle America's Mountain on June 23, 2024.

BIDDING FAREWELL

Parnelli Jones

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is mourning the loss of motorsports icon, Parnelli Jones. Jones raced on Pikes Peak for the first time in 1962 in the Stock Car division in his #24 Ford. He finished in third place behind Curtis Turner, who set a division record of 14:55.50, also in a Ford; and Nick Sanborn who claimed second place in his Chevrolet.

In 1963, Jones returned to Pikes Peak in the Bill Stroppe-prepared Mercury, not only winning the division, but setting a Stock Car division record of 14:17.40.

MEET PPIHC BOARD CHAIRMAN

Meet Fred Veitch

Chairman, PPIHC Board of Directors

"I first attended the Hill Climb as a student at Denver University, and that continued once I moved to Colorado Springs. I joined the Board in 2010 to support this iconic race, and assumed the chairman role in 2020 after the unexpected death of Tom Osborne.

I started my own racing career in the early 70’s and still actively race a Porsche ST (sprint and vintage races) and a Mustang (enduros).

I’ve competed seven times on Pikes Peak, and had a division win with a record in 2014.

I’m interested in seeing this race continue to grow by attracting ever-increasing quality entries. For 2024, I’m especially eager to see how the new GT4 division performs.

This event is historic, amazingly challenging, and absolutely unique in the world of motorsport."
