Greetings,

Today it is my honor and my pleasure to formally announce that I will be seeking the Presidency of United States Adult Soccer Associations at September’s Annual General Meeting in Frisco, Texas. For the past ten months I have had the privilege of serving as USASA’s Vice President, and during those ten months USASA’s National Borad of Directors has spent significant time and effort in examining its role, and more importantly USASA’s role, as a national organization as that role relates to its member State Associations, Affiliates and USASA Leagues. Although this process is still ongoing, one general theme that developed is that a fundamental role of USASA is to be a resource to our members, so that in turn they can best serve their members.

Creating the culture, framework and infrastructure to maximize that role will require a knowledge of where we have been, a vision of where we are going, and the courage to bring forth new thoughts and ideas. Making the necessary changes will involve a hard and critical look at our national programs – from competitions to insurance to administration – to make them better, more economically sound, and most importantly provide greater value to our current and future members. I am ready and excited to lead these efforts.

I have spoken to many of you during my time as Vice President and I have already started putting some ideas into action. I presented a balanced budget for our National Cups program, I laid the groundwork for a coaching education task force with the goal of creating a coaching education program with national reach at no additional cost to USASA, and I am in the process of engaging a similar working group to develop a training program to educate the many volunteer team managers, of which I was one for over ten years, who act as the de facto coach, manager, administrator, equipment manager, and everything else, for well over 90% of our teams.

Of course I haven’t done these things alone. Much credit also goes to my fellow Directors, the national office, and to the many of you who have reached out to me with ideas and offers of help. I also know that alone I won’t be able to successfully do all that needs to be done in preparing USASA for the future; but I do know that by working together we can exceed even our current expectations.

When I ran for Vice President last year, I said that the approaches I envisioned will restore a sense of the culture of our organization, so that we can get back to actually feeling the tag line, “A Proud Member of USASA.” This year we took some first steps in that direction, and I ask that you would please support me in continuing this journey so that together we will continue to build our culture, tackle our problems, and build the attractiveness, viability, and membership of USASA and each and every State Association, USASA League, and Affiliate.

Yours in soccer,

Fritz Marth
