Bird Feed
Throwing bird feed in the yard might seem like a harmless way to attract birds and enjoy their presence, but it can lead to several negative consequences. Here are seven cons of throwing bird feed in the yard:
- Bacteria and fungi can develop, which may make wild birds sick.
- Bird feed attracts rats, mice, and rabbits, which can lead to attracting larger predators.
- The uneaten seed on the ground may not be eaten before it decays from the moist condition of the soil. The rotting seed will quickly start to smell.
- The seed will damage the ground especially black oil sunflower seed hulls, which contain a toxin that kills some types of plants and prevents others from growing.
- This mess will change the chemical balance of the soil.
- Some fallen seeds will sprout and cause unwanted plants/weeds to grow.
- The seed scattered under the bird feeding area will attract social birds like pigeons, blackbirds, and starlings to arrive in large numbers.

We would like to hear from you, Frisco Lakes family! We will post a different poll question each week to gather your thoughts and opinions.
October Movie
It's that time again to decide which movie we should watch to round out the year. Please note that we do not have a movie watching event in December so October would be the last movie the Lifestyle Department will host in 2024. Here are your movie options:
- Twisters (PG-13, Action, Adventure, Drama, Thriller): As storm season intensifies, the paths of former storm chaser, Kate Carter, and reckless social-media superstar, Tyler Owens, collide when terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed. The pair and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.
- Fly Me to the Moon (PG-13, Romantic Comedy): Sparks fly in all directions as marketing maven, Kelly Jones, brought in to fix NASA's public image, wreaks havoc on Apollo 11 launch director Cole Davis's already difficult task of putting a man on the moon. When the White House deems the mission too important to fail, Jones is directed to stage a fake moon landing as backup, and the countdown truly begins.
- The Fall Guy (PG-13, Action, Comedy, Drama, Suspense): A stuntman must track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy, and win back the love of his life while still doing his day job in this action-packed thrill ride.
|
| Which movie would you like to watch at the end of October? | | | |
