The sad descent of Senator Bob Casey with regard to the right to life is now complete. Bob Casey has committed the ultimate political flip-flop. Voters need to know that the Casey name is no longer synonymous with the right to life.
In a recent television ad, Casey, who once sought out the endorsement of pro-life groups, attacks opponent Dave McCormick for McCormick’s stand supporting the protection of pregnant women and their babies from harm.
The Associated Press story, written by Marc Levy, pointed out that Casey had long since begun to leave left the pro-life camp:
“I don’t believe he ever wanted those (pro-life) beliefs to ever stand in the way of access to abortion, and now his position matters more than it did just two years ago,” said Brittany Crampsie, a Democratic strategist.

There is no safe way to legalise euthanasia. | |
Safeguards simply do not work, even when they supposedly have 'teeth'
For the first time in history, both main candidates in a UK General Election are openly in favour of legalising assisted suicide or euthanasia (ASE). Whether Labour or the Conservatives win in July, the Suicide Act 1961 will likely be called into review.
Looking at the evidence, it is difficult to avoid the conclusion that the only ‘safeguard’ that really works or lasts is the present law, which prevents ASE entirely. In every country where ASE is legal, the safeguards have fallen rapidly and initially low numbers of assisted deaths have surged.

The abortion accounts of 26 women weep with pain and regret and remorse | |
When there is even an ounce of honesty in them, any series of accounts of women who have undergone abortions will accomplish exactly the opposite of what proponents of “telling your story” believe it will. Instead of “de-stigmatizing” abortion, what we learn makes the average person even more skeptical of abortion, even more convinced it is a horrible “choice.”
A perfect example is a story in New York magazine which provided thumbnail sketches of the reasons 26 women had their abortion or abortions.
The overwhelming takeaway for me from Meaghan Winter’s story was sorrow. Abortion’s ugly truth is everywhere.
I was very much impressed with Winter’s introduction. Take this paragraph, for example:
“And yet abortion is something we tend to be more comfortable discussing as an abstraction; the feelings it provokes are too complicated to face in all their particularities.

Megan's Story: A Glimpse into Post-Abortion Therapy | |
Ellie Shumaker is a therapist who specializes in treating post-abortive people. In her 2019 book, she wrote about some of them. Although Shumaker changed names and identifying details, the stories in the book are true.
One story that stood out to me was of a woman Shumaker calls Megan.
A Coerced Abortion
Megan came to Shumaker years after her abortion. When she became pregnant, she was engaged. She assumed her fiancé would be happy, but he demanded she abort.
Megan says:
He started being real ugly to me, saying I’d tried to trick him, that I’d wrecked everything, that if I had this baby, he was going to break it off with me. He didn’t want anything to do with adoption, either. Said I’d never see him again if I tried that route…
So, she agreed to have an abortion she didn’t really want.
