The Mosaic | Summer 2024 Edition

Message from the President and CEO

Education equals opportunity – to work in a new career, advance in the workplace, qualify for a raise, and more. It can also help break the cycle of homelessness or addiction for a person in recovery.

In this edition, we explore the numerous ways education, job training, and professional development opportunities are making a positive difference in the lives of our clients and employees.

  • Our tuition reimbursement benefit helps employees focus on learning instead of the cost of the classes they’re taking. The SOLAR program is one such example. You can read more about that program, and its first graduate, in this edition.

  • Continuous education has a ripple effect that benefits not just our employees but also our clients. Through additional funding, the CASAC Training Institute’s scholarships are now attracting students from around the state of New York.

  • We see it in action every day at the Samaritan Daytop Village CASAC Training Institute, where we provide staff with free CASAC training.

As you review this edition of the Mosaic, you will find examples of how an education is making dreams come true every day. As always, thank you to everyone who continues to support and champion the agency as we help individuals from all walks of life find the path to their dreams!

Best to you and yours,

Mitchell Netburn

President & CEO

SOLAR Brings Employees' Dreams to Light

An educational partnership with Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare is making the dream of a Master's degree come true for a select group of Samaritan Daytop Village employees.

HOW SOLAR WORKS

Miranda Lopez: First SOLAR Student Graduate

Senior Case Manager Miranda Lopez shaved off a year of social work classes to complete her studies a year early. This past May she became the first student to graduate from our SOLAR program and receive her Master's degree in Social Welfare from Stony Brook University.
