Preparing for the High Holy Days:
History, Themes and Texts of the Season
Thursday, August 17 & Thursday, August 24, 7:15 - 9:00pm on Zoom
The month of Elul is the time of preparation for the coming High Holy days. Beginning on Rosh Chodesh (the first day of) Elul, this two-session class will explore the history, themes and some of the key texts of the High Holy day season. What did Rosh HaShanah mean to our biblical ancestors, how do the historical memes passed down by our tradition speak to us and how can we renew them as part of our own spiritual practice? The class will be taught by SZ member Yoel Kahn who is a former SZ Rabbi.
