PROVINCE NEWS

Br. Owen, Maureen Hagan, Matt Fallon, and Pete Marti will be presenting the Keepers of the Charism Program to the Faculty and Staff of Msgr. Pace high School in Miami today.

Br. Dan concludes his visit with our Brothers at Champagnat Hall today.

Congrats to Brothers Mike Sheerin, Larry Lavallee, Armand Lamagna, George Dicarluccio and John Healy, who will be gathering this weekend in Miami to celebrate their Jubilee.

All Queens area Brothers are invited to attend a special liturgy at St. Gregory's Church in Bellerose at11 AM on Sunday, April 28 to celebrate Religious Brothers Day which take place Internationally on May 1st.

The Province Green Team will meet next Tuesday evening via Zoom.

Last weekend, Students and Marist Young Adults gathered in Esopus for the 2nd Annual Earth Day weekend Conference.

Bro. Brian is in St. Paul, Minnesota this weekend for a meeting of the National Board of the National Religious Vocation Conference (NRVC) being held at St. Paul's Monastery.

Vocation Pilgrimage. Brother Rob Clark will be bringing 5 students from the University of Texas to NY for the annual Vocation Pilgrimage, The Marist Brothers will be hosting the students at the Marist Community of Welcome in Flushing, the Marist Brothers Center at Esopus and the Marist Novitiate at Saint Barnabas. The students visit a number of religious communities to learn about Consecrated Life as a vocational option in the Church. Welcome Pilgrims to the Province!

HAPPENING AT CHAMPAGNAT HALL:

  • The Brothers at Champagnat Hall joined Br. Owen Ormsby and Marists of Champagnat Maureen Hagan, Pat Hagan and Alice Miesnik to pack Mother's Day gift bags that will be distributed to the women at the Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless.
  • Our next Green Team meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 30th at 6:30 pm EST. Here is a Zoom link to join.


  • The Catholic Climate Covenant's April Encounter for Our Common Home will be Friday, April 26th from 3:00-4:30 p.m. EST. Click here for the Zoom link.

  • Over 50 students and adults gathered in Esopus for our second annual Marist Earth Day Weekend, featuring workshops on native planting, bird watching, plastic waste, climate action, and renewable energy. Click here to see more photos from the weekend!
  • From March 19 to May 1, Catholic Climate Covenant will accept applications from U.S. Catholic communities that want to create a project or a program, host an event, or participate in another creation care activity. U.S. Catholic parishes, schools, dioceses, and other Catholic organizations located in the United States that apply will be eligible for a grant of $500 to $1,000. 
  • Students at Archbishop Molloy High School and Marist High School took part in native planting projects this week to celebrate Earth Day.

For David Irwin, who continues to need treatment for a brain tumor.


Marist Father Rev. Kevin Duggan, SM known to many of the Brothers, who is being treated for cancer.

For Bob Freligh, a longtime friend of Esopus, who is struggling with health issues.


Cristiana Downey, wife of Kevin Downey, '84 who was in a very serious accident and severely injured.

For Mike Kenny, a 1990 graduate of Archbishop Molloy, who is dealing with brain cancer.

 

For Dan Waters, a former FMS, who had a stroke recently.


For Laura Gural that she recovers from a stroke and gains use of her left side.


For Dr Sharifa Lee of Columbus High School who continues recovering from cancer surgery.


For Josie Smith, former staff member of Camp Marist and spouse of David Smith, who has undergone surgery for a blood disorder and will need long term rehabilitative intervention.


For Elaine Pelliciari, sister in law of Tom Pelliciari, who is recovering from peripheral vascular disease surgery and intense rehabilitation therapy.
