Lakeview School provided our students with the opportunity to get a head start on their holiday shopping. On Friday, December 7th and Saturday, December 8th, the students enjoyed purchasing their own gifts. The All Purpose Room was filled with exciting gifts providing opportunities for the Lakeview Lions to purchase gifts for friends and family. The volunteers assisted the students and free gift wrapping was provided. Thank you to our wonderful PTA and volunteers for organizing this wonderful event.
The Lakeview Band performed in its annual Winter Concert on December 12, at 7:00 p.m. to a packed house in the Lakeview Gym. Students performed music they have been rehearsing after school since September. Selections included Christmas Encore, Chanukah Joy and Jingle Bones- which featured the trombone section. The beginners have been working diligently since September and are looking forward to joining the band for the spring. Enrollment is at an all-time high this year with over 150 students involved in the program. Great job, Mrs. Kelly!
The 3rd graders participated in winter themed trivia yoga. Each answer to a winter themed trivia question brought the students to a yoga pose. (Polar bear pose, snowflake pose, seal pose, pine tree pose, ski pose, etc.). They worked on using their breath during the poses in order to increase mindfulness and body awareness. It was a great time and it definitely brought some much needed calmness to the exciting and busy holiday season. Thank you to Mrs. Horsfield for planning this activity for our third graders.
Lakeview closed out the calendar year with its annual Holiday Sing-Off. Each grade had an opportunity to showcase their talents for the entire school by singing several holiday songs for all to enjoy. It was wonderful to see the children cheering each other on as they shared their songs. The room was filled with beautiful music. The Lakeview Staff returned the favor by singing the "Twelve Days of Christmas" for the children. The room was filled with turtle doves, drummers drumming, five golden rings and of course the partridge. Special thanks to Mr. Komorowski for making this event so special for the Lakeview Lions.
The holidays have a way of reminding us of the things that matter most... the gift of family, sharing our good fortunate with others in need, and taking time to enjoy quality time with friends and family.
The Lakeview Family and the entire Denville School District wishes peace and joy to you and yours during the holidays and always. May a beautiful, bright and healthy new year fill your days in 2019.
