Friday 4-H Nugget

Greetings 4-H Community,

There are many different traditions this time of year with family, friends, or activities. One of them I hope that you add to your list is checking out the amazing drive-through light show at the fairgrounds. We have some 4-H clubs that have set up a lights display on the grounds. Be sure to check them out and vote for your favorite one.

In this Friday 4-H Nugget you will find some information for the next couple of weeks. It is important that you get your 4-H enrollment competed so that you can get all of the current information. Please reach out to any of our staff and we will be happy to assist you. Please note that the Extension office will be closed on Monday, December 25, 2023 and Monday, January 1, 2024. We wish you all a great Holiday Season and Happy New Year.

All the best,

Robby Kelly, Sthele Greybar & Corey Sharp

What is Indiana 4-H Day at the Statehouse?

  •  The overnight portion will include energizers/icebreakers to help meet youth from other parts of the state as well as activities to help youth with speaking to local representatives!
  • On February 13, participants will use public transportation, meet their legislators, watch government in session, serve as pages and tour the statehouse!
  • New this year: We are working to have several optional breakout sessions that may include topics such as mock legislation, military careers, parliamentary procedure and board training.
  • Here is newspaper article written by a 4-H’er who attended last year from Lawrence county.

4-H Policies and Procedures Manual

As we work to make sure that all of our 4-H families can find the information they need we have revamped some things. The 4-H handbook is now down to the Elkhart County 4-H Policies and Procedures booklet. It is important that you read over these various things. All project information will be listed on our website with the descriptions, scorecards and exhibition information.

Each year we publish a 4-H Livestock Update which will contain some of the important deadlines and information you need to know for 4-H Livestock Projects. Once you enroll for the 4-H program year you will get a hard copy via USPS. You can also view it here.
