YOU HAD ME AT FRESH BAKED! CHIP COOKIES NOW OPEN IN THE ORCHARDS

Good news for people who love the smell of fresh baked cookies, warm out of the oven—and who doesn't?

Chip Cookies has opened in The Orchards, next to Antojitos Taqueria.

Founded in Provo, Utah, the popular Chip franchise has more than 30 U.S. locations. Chip Cookies Walnut Creek, co-owned by entrepreneurs Marley Allen and Brandy Snider (who happen to be family by marriage), is the first Chip Cookies shop in the San Francisco Bay Area.

"When I was in Provo, Chip was the go-to place for dates and meet ups," said Marley, who lives locally. "When I heard they were franchising, I knew this was a great opportunity to bring this warm cookie experience to Walnut Creek and the Bay Area."

Chip's proprietary dough is shipped and baked fresh daily, right there in the shop's ovens. With a variety of flavors and textures, there's a cookie for everyone. Among others, you'll find milk chocolate chip, semi-sweet with sea salt, sugar cookies with cream cheese frosting, and Biscoff white chocolate chip.

At the cookie bar, customers can create their own cookies by adding toppings, frostings, and drizzles. And, vanilla ice cream and cold milk are available with all orders.

"Chip Cookies are easy to pick up for parties and celebrations—and we deliver," said Brandy. "Place your order online [beginning week of June 10] and we'll deliver freshly baked, warm cookies and ice cold milk right to your doorstep. We bring fun and sweetness into your life."

Come for the aroma; stay for the cookies.

Chip's cookie bar offers frostings, drizzles, and a variety of sweet and crunchy toppings.

WALNUT CREEK HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO KICK OFF WALNUT CREEK OPEN SPACE 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION, JUNE 6

On June 6, 1974, voters passed the R-8 bond measure, enabling the purchase and protection of Lime Ridge, Shell Ridge, Sugarloaf, and Acalanes undeveloped lands, and other natural spaces in and around Walnut Creek, to be preserved in perpetuity as public parks and open space.

Now, on June 6 of this year, the Walnut Creek Historical Society is hosting the 50th anniversary celebration of that seminal moment, launching a summer long Open Space History Exhibit.

The exhibit will feature a visual timeline of events and showcase milestones crucial to the success of the Open Space Foundation’s mission and the preservation of Walnut Creek’s natural environment.

It will also acknowledge community participation and grassroots activism that has enabled the purchase of more than 2,700 acres of public land.

The 50th anniversary celebration is free and open to the public.
