Take the Time to Look Around

When was the last time you really looked around Pearl Market? We're all guilty of being in a hurry and quickly rushing to and from the vendors that we need to visit to complete our shopping.

I'd like to challenge you to to take an extra five to ten minutes during your trip to Pearl Market this week to really look around. Notice all of the different colors. Take time to do a little people watching. Try a sample. Watch small business owners in action. Look around a booth you have never stopped at. Think about what the alley looks like on a non-market day vs. a market day. Say hello to a stranger. I think you'll enjoy taking the extra time to do so.

Avocado Pasta

Ingredients

1 large tomato, pureed

1/2 serrano chile

2 cups cubed fresh watermelon

1 teaspoon red wine vinegar

1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

2 tablespoons minced red onion

1/2 cucumber, seeded and minced

2 tablespoons minced fresh dill, plus more for garnish

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese

Directions

In a blender, puree the tomatoes, chile, and 1/2 of the watermelon. Pour in the red wine vinegar and olive oil and pulse. Add the onion, cucumber and dill and season with salt and pepper. Puree until smooth. Pour into chilled bowls and sprinkle with dill, feta, and remaining watermelon. Serve.
