Senior Freeze Application Deadline is July 31

Fremont Township Assessor Joe Herchenbach is reminding resident of the Senior Freeze Application Deadline.

The Low-Income Senior Freeze provides limited-income seniors with protection against real estate tax increases due to rising property values.

It is not a tax freeze or a tax reduction and does not protect against increased taxes due to tax rate increases. Because this exemption provides for a base year frozen assessment, it will potentially provide increased savings each year a senior is eligible.

Annual application is needed for exemption since it is based on a qualifying income level of less the $65,000 of gross incom

The final filing date for the 2023 Low-Income Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze (taxes payable 2024) is July 31. To learn if you qualify, visit the Chief County Assessment Office website

Fremont Township residents with questions should call the assessor at 847 223-2846.

This does not apply to residents in Saddlebrook Farms.

Kirk Players Present Morning's at Seven

Set in the early 1920's in a small midwestern town, this is the story of the four Gibbs sisters, all of whom live within a "stone's throw" of each other. Join us the weekend of June 9-11 at Mundelein High School to enjoy this hilarious and deeply touching look into the inner workings of the American family in all its messy, embarrassing, ridiculous glory.

Eco Corner from Jenn Cameron

Birds are chirping, days are longer, flowers are blooming ~ summer has arrived in Fremont Township! Unfortunately, more of something else is also noticeable ... litter.

Waste products not properly disposed of are not only an eyesore but a potential ecosystem hazard as well. Most Fremont Township residents have cans and bins provided through waste disposal services that are set out for removal. When trash is at the curb awaiting scheduled collection, gusty winds, severe storms, and even wildlife scavengers can cause refuse in unsecured or partially closed containers to become roadside, waterway, and wooded area pollution. Please properly dispose of all waste materials, remembering to secure recycling bins and making sure garbage can lids are fully closed.

Your awareness and efforts can make a positive difference in helping to keep our Fremont Township areas trash-free no matter the time of year.  Thank you!
