The PTA (STILL) Needs YOU!

THE PTA BOARD STILL URGENTLY NEEDS YOUR HELP NOW!

The DOE requires that a PTA board have a president, a recording secretary, and a treasurer to exist, but it takes more people than that to have a successful board.

At the end of this school year, our PTA will lose several key board members and will not be able to continue next year without your help.

Some positions are open to two (or more) people in the role. All positions are for a one-year term and ALL positions are open.

All board members should be able to attend general PTA meetings as well as monthly board meetings.

Nominations are now open for 2023-24 PTA Board positions. To nominate yourself, fill out this form by June 12th. Elections will be held during the PTA Meeting on June 13th.

President or Co-Presidents (1-2) -- preside over all PTA meetings, set agendas and committee priorities, you know: the whole nine yards. Calling all extroverts who love both big pictures and small details!

Executive Vice President (1) -- help the president/s with all the things, attend monthly board meetings, and step in to lead meetings when needed. Low-key, but crucial.

Treasurer (1) -- attend to the all-important financial deets that keep the PTA, you know, afloat: banking, periodic review of annual budget, and preparation of monthly, interim, and year end financials. (Probably) must love Excel and think budgets can be things of beauty.

Recording Secretary or Co-Recording Secretaries (2) -- take notes at all meetings (that's basically it!). Flex your typing skills and be a hero just by showing up on Zoom!

Second Vice Presidents: Fundraising, Auctions, and SpiritWear (4) -- four positions make up this social neck of the PTA woods! In particular, the PTA is looking for someone to take on SpiritWear wrangling -- this can mean volunteering at events you'd attend anyway to sell merch or revamping the entire SpiritWear program. Love event planning, sweatshirt selling, and shaking the money tree? This is for you!

Corresponding Secretaries (1-2) -- take over this august publication and give it your own spin, while also handling PTA email and all other communications. If you're a wordsmith who loves a weekly press deadline (it's in the name, after all), this is for you! (A very basic comfort level with technology is helpful.)

Hospitality Committee Leaders (2) -- the all-important food and drinks boss for PTA events! If you love a good spread and making folks feel at home, this one's for you.

Studio Liaison Coordinator Committee Leaders (2) -- coordinate parent networks within studios to help grow the FSSA community. Like to network and connect people? This is for you!

Have You Donated Yet?

Donations from you, the parents, are very important for the PTA. In making our budget for this year for supporting the school, we expected to reach $55,000 in parent donations, separate from other fundraising such as the auction. (Since we received $56,000 in donations last year, this seemed like a safe assumption.)

Now we find ourselves in late May, and we have raised $35,000 in donations. This means we have a budget shortfall of $20,000!

But the year is not over. We can still get there! Can you donate to help us bridge this gap?

This has been a successful year in so many ways, and we are grateful for the inspiring generosity of the FSSA parent body. Can you help us meet our budget target?

Final Parent Workshop of the Year Focuses on Consent

Join the final PTA-sponsored parent workshop of the year on Tuesday, May 30th at 6pm on the topic of consent.

Spring Show Tickets On Sale Now

From Cabaret, film and music festivals, to vocal and dance concerts and art exhibits - tickets are now on sale for all spring concerts and events!

The 2023 Vocal Concert is up next, on May 25th at 7pm!

SpiritWear Pop-up Shop Dates - Volunteers Needed!

The PTA is hosting SpiritWear pop-up shops at upcoming spring performances and exhibitions on the following dates:



• Vocal: Thursday, May 25
• Instrumental: Friday, June 2

Additionally, the PTA will be welcoming incoming freshmen students and their families at a Welcome Freshmen Event on Monday, June 5th. To volunteer to help sell merchandise and be on hand to chat with new families, please sign up here.

CORRECTION: Carrie, The Musical playbills incorrectly stated that Sac's Place would offer a 15% discount. It should have stated that a 10% donation to the school would be made. Apologies for any misunderstanding or confusion!

WhatsApp Parent Groups

Have you joined the parent WhatsApp groups by grade and studio?

Parents now have a quick and easy way of communicating with other parents with students in the same grade and studio. 

Please note there is a general group for each grade as well as studio-specific grade groups, so make sure to join both.
