Please join me, your neighbors, and parents who have given this year in support of our children. Your tax-deductible gift will help our children receive a world-class education and could help us fund new and innovative programs that prepare our children for college and beyond.

If you have already given for the 2022-2023 school year, thank you for supporting San Marino Schools. If you haven't yet made your tax-deductible gift, please consider making it before December 31, 2022.

We have many ways to participate and support our students.

1. Visit our SMSF website to give online
2. Give through our Facebook campaign page. When giving through Facebook, there are NO transaction fees. This means 100% of your donation goes back to SMSF and our teachers.
3. Give through PayPal Giving Fund. If you're not comfortable with social media but you want to avoid transaction fees, this is a great option. PayPal Giving Fund covers all transaction fees so 100% of your donation will get to SMSF.
4. Donate through other means. If donating online isn’t an option for you, that is okay! You may also give to our End of Year Campaign by dropping off a check to our SMSF office located at 1665 West Drive or calling our office at 626-299-7014 and donating over the phone.

As the 2nd Quarter is coming to an end, it is now time for you to consider our next sport season.

Huntington offers two types of sports programs.  

1.  Intramural: This program is open to all the students on campus regardless of skill level. Once you register to be a part of Intramurals, you are now eligible to try out to be a part of a Travel Team.  

2. Travel Team:  In this program, groups of selected athletes compete against other schools to represent Huntington in our 210 Middle School League, Delphic League, and Prep League.  Not all students who try out will be selected for the Travel Team for which they are trying out.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE SELECTING YOUR SPORT!!

• Please make sure you complete the appropriate form WITH your parent/guardian.
• Make sure you take note of the first meeting date. (THIS DATE MAY BE DIFFERENT FOR EACH SPORTS TEAM!)
• You may select more than one sport, if you do, you will need to fill out a separate form for each sport.
• Be realistic regarding your schedule and the possible time and date conflicts.

City's Notice of Street Rehabilitation Project

• Paving operations will be on hold from 11/18/2022 to end-of-day 1/9/2023 to minimize inconveniences to residents and businesses during the holidays
• The grind and overlay/signing and striping will restart sometime in mid January
• The contractor will provide the City of San Marino a new revised schedule
• The City will post this information on their website when available
• The City will disseminate public notices for dates of commencement of work that affect street parking

Renovation Plans for San Marino Center

The San Marino City Council approved a renovation project for the San Marino Center and contracted with CABD Construction to bring the building up to code, match the decor of the neighboring Crowell Public Library, and make it a usable, flexible, and modern community center facility. Construction is anticipated to begin in mid September with demolition sometime in October. Construction activities will affect parking. Please see attached for the SM Center Project parking collaboration with the City of San Marino for details. The yellow parking area is first come first serve. Free breakfast and lunch!

For the 2022-2023 school year, the State of California is mandating the Universal Meals Program at all schools in the state. With the Universal Meal families need to fill out a Meal Application form, which was part of the online registration package. SMUSD will be offering both breakfast and lunch. Please encourage your students to come and grab a free lunch and a free breakfast daily.  SMUSD will be using the Point of Sale system to record the meals for lunch, therefore please remind your students to memorize their 5 Digit lunch number (student ID number). This will help expedite the meal service.  For the first week of school the lines may be a bit longer than usual as students may have forgotten their lunch number. Student Connectedness to HMS Campus Life

HMS events, activities and athletics play a huge part in the overall development of our students. We want our students to stay connected to all the wonderful and interactive school events and activities that are available to each student. Students will be notified of school events and activities with a Schoology notification or an email to their student Gmail account. HMS students and families are also encouraged to frequently visit the HMS school website.

Honorary Service Award Nominations

Do you know a super volunteer who is active in the HMS PTA and in our San Marino community?

The HMS PTA is now accepting nominations for the 2022-2023 Honorary Service Awards. To nominate an outstanding volunteer from HMS, please fill out a nomination form for EACH NOMINEE

New volunteer opportunities

at the Crowell Public Library!

Teens in Grades 8-12 are invited to join the new Teen Advisory Group (TAG). TAG members contribute to the Library through projects, serve as a voice for teen patrons, and help shape what they see at the Library. Teen volunteers will be able to earn community service hours and gain valuable experience that looks great on a college application or resume. For more information, visit www.CityofSanMarino.org/TAG.
