"My grace is sufficient for you,
for power is made perfect in weakness."
~ 2 Corinthians 12:9
You're Invited!
Marriage is a Sacrament of the Church by the word and action of Christ which demands personal formation that enables married couples to grow in sanctity together. Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish is creating a program that will not only prepare engaged couples for the wonderful sacrament of matrimony, but also re-evangelize fallen away and lukewarm Catholics so that they experience a truly faith-deepening conversion and awakening to the beauty, goodness, and truth about marriage, family life and our Catholic faith.

We are putting this marriage plan into action, and to start we are calling upon couples and individuals in the parish who care deeply about the Catholic faith to form a parish ministry team which will facilitate a host of marriage strengthening recommendations provided in the program. Some enrichment activities include marriage preparation (PreCana), couple retreats, speaker events, marriage-related parish workshops, World Marriage Day activities, St. Valentine’s Day couples’ event, marriage-enrichment and social activities.

Marriage ministry enables married couples in the parish to use their experience of marriage and family life, especially challenges they have overcome, in accompanying other married couples in similar situations. Effective marriage ministry helps married couples discern their own unique gifts and talents, and provides opportunities for couples (including divorced, widowed or remarried persons) to use their skills in service to the parish community.

We are inviting couples and will train a core team to form the OLBS marriage ministry. Having a supportive marriage ministry at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament will bless couples and strengthen families. This is the heart of ministry and a fruitful response to our baptismal call to serve. We are looking to set an initial brainstorming meeting the week of July 12th to set things in motion to kick off parish-wide events in September. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of this opportunity.

Feedback? If you have suggestions or feedback, or feel called to serve in our Marriage Ministry, please contact the parish office today (847) 979-0901 or OLBSCares@ArchChicago.org. If you have questions, we would love to speak with you. Please contact the office or follow this link to discover more. The favor of a reply is requested by July 11, 2021.

Blessings,
Fr. Louis Mboe & Christine Schiffer
True Reformers
A few spots remain for True Reformers. This Bible Study will meet in person or virtually from July 1st until August 5th at 7pm on Thursdays.

Who are the true benefactors of the human race? Explorers? Scientists? Revolutionaries? Rebels against established authority? . . . or the saints?

True Reformers explores in detail the leaders who led the Church’s rebirth from the ashes of Renaissance decadence and the turbulence and confusion caused by the Protestant Reformation. The saints of the Catholic Reformation show us just how powerful—and beautiful—is the human heart’s free response to God’s generous grace.

Youth Ministry Corner
Last week, OLBS teens were given the opportunity to participate in Stay Camp, an event that replaced the annual Summer Mission Trip. Daytime hours found the teens working in and around the school & church, at Wings Logistic Center and the Community Garden in Palatine. During the evenings, students had an opportunity for prayer, reconciliation, and socializing.

Putting an event like this together took a lot of work and coordination! Many thanks to Fr. Dan, Fr. Louis, Mr. Van and the volunteers who made this experience possible for our teens!

Make a real difference in the life of our parish, school and religious education programs. OLBS needs YOU!

DID YOU KNOW?
OLBS Prayer Shawl Ministry is partnering with our new Journey of the Heart grief-sharing group to wrap those grieving the loss of a loved one in prayer.
