ScoutsGiving Campaign - November 14 to 18

Thank you for all you do for Scouting in the Cradle of Liberty Council! We’re two-thirds of the way toward our 2022 Annual Campaign goal to raise the necessary funds to support Scouting right here locally in Greater Philadelphia. We’re launching a “ScoutsGiving” campaign this week to help close the gap and we need your help to spread the word.

  • Make a year-end one-time gift at colbsa.org/give

Merion Liberty Troop 71 will be attending the Northern Tier this summer, and they have space for up to 4 Scouts / Scouters to join their crew (guaranteed to be on the same crew together). This is a great opportunity to canoe the pristine lakes and streams of Minnesota and Canada, on the 100th Anniversary of the first BSA High Adventure Camp.

Scouts in the 6ABC Thanksgiving Day Parade

Morning of November 24, 2022

Celebrate the start of the holiday season with Philadelphia’s favorite Thanksgiving Day

tradition. For more than 100 years the 6ABC Thanksgiving Parade has marked the beginning of the most wonderful time of the year. Floats, bands, balloons, and Santa himself will be back along the Ben Franklin Parkway this year, making the march to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Help us to spread the good news that Scouting is doing great things for the communities of the Delaware Valley.

All Scouts and Scouters 12 and older are invited to participate, but you have to register in advance and submit a consent form. Click here for information and to register.

Don't delay; registration closes November 17!

District Safety Minute

Socks!  We're talking about socks?!  You bet.  Experienced campers and hikers know how important the right type and number of socks are for your Scouts.  A good pair of wool socks will cushion the feet, help prevent blisters, and keep feet warm and dry.  Remind your Scouts to pack multiple pairs of wool (not cotton) socks and to change them during the camping trip, especially putting on a fresh, dry pair before getting into their sleeping bags on these increasingly cool and cold nights.

Fun Fact to Know

Scouting is blessed to have approximately 800,000 adult volunteers helping our Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, and Explorers prepare to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

As we head into the Thanksgiving season, we at the Constellation District want to take this moment to say THANK YOU to all of you who volunteer your time in support of Scouting.
