A little over two years ago on March 14, 2020, FLPL closed the building due to the onset of the pandemic. Our staff quickly pivoted to working at home with one goal in mind: to stay connected to our patrons. We offered reference services, virtual programs, ESL classes and even check-in phone calls to our senior patrons.
We thought it would only be a few weeks, but the months rolled by. Staff came back onsite for doorside pickup and then limited indoor services. We made some progress but the continuing pandemic brought setbacks too.
The one constant though was you, our patrons. You welcomed us into your homes via the 3,000 virtual programs we offered during the last two years, with attendance exceeding 50,000 people. Your unwavering support as we navigated these unprecedented times kept us going.
And now we are so grateful to see you return to the Library in numbers that are increasing every day. We are so thrilled to celebrate the everyday “normal” with you.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Staff, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sticking by us and solidifying what we always knew - nothing, not even a global pandemic, can keep us apart.
