A Year in Review

As we bid farewell to 2023, we reflect with immense gratitude on the incredible journey we've shared at Radiance.

This past year has been a testament to the transformative power of compassion and community support. Our commitment to those we serve extended beyond the walls of our centers – from the symbolic act of rebranding to the practical steps of replacing our building envelope thanks to provincial and federal funding.

We take pride in the positive impact we've had on the lives of the courageous women and children who sought solace with us. From fostering courage and confidence to igniting hope and providing a sense of safety, we've witnessed spirits healing and resilience flourishing.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible generosity of our supporters. Your kindness has fueled our efforts, reminding us that positive change is a collective endeavor. Thank you from the depths of our hearts.

As we step into 2024, let's continue making a difference, fostering hope, and building a community where everyone can thrive.

Stories from 2023

A Legendary Christmas at Radiance

Our community wowed us with their generosity and caring spirit!

First Alliance Church's generous donation of gifts for our "Shop for Mama" initiative made a significant impact, allowing 22 excited kids to carefully choose and wrap special surprises for their moms. The joy and anticipation in their eyes as they eagerly awaited their moms' reactions on Christmas morning were priceless. First Alliance Church's support has not only provided material gifts but has also created cherished moments of warmth and connection within our Radiance family.

Thanks to the generosity of kind sponsors, every single family in need was adopted through our Adopt-a-Family initiative, with all their Christmas wishlists fulfilled. The outpouring of support has not only made the holiday season brighter for these families but has also created a heartwarming sense of community.

The Spirit of Christmas program, spearheaded by the compassionate team at ConocoPhillips and led by the dedicated efforts of Chantal and Tanya, brought an abundance of joy to Radiance. Their heartfelt commitment shone through as they hand-delivered a plethora of Christmas presents, ensuring that the moms and kids felt genuinely special and included during the holiday season. Their hard work and generosity illuminated the spirit of giving, making the festivities brighter for our Radiance families.

"This is my 11th Spirit of Christmas, and I look forward to this each year. I love the shopping and seeing all the joy on the kids' faces when we arrive at the apartments. I love the feeling of what we're doing for these women and children all throughout the year while they're here, and when they move out and they get to keep the stuff we buy for them and take it with them".

A Special Visit from Minister Turton

We were honored to host the Alberta's Minister of Children and Family Services, Honourable Searle Turton at Radiance.

Our discussion delved into the critical programs and services we offer to women and children navigating domestic violence and our commitment to prevention through our Children’s Centre and our Day Homes program.

We are grateful for the chance to share our vision and goals, to be a trusted advisor, and together generate solutions that see children and families thrive. Together, we aim to foster impactful change in the community, creating a safer and more supportive environment for those affected by domestic violence. We look forward to continued collaboration with Minister Turton.

Zoolights and Santa's Workshop

The Children at Radiance enjoyed a festive visit to Calgary Zoo

The holiday season came alive for the children in residence and those attending the Radiance Children's Centre during a magical trip to the Calgary Zoo to see the dazzling Christmas lights. Laughter and excitement filled the air as the kids marveled at the enchanting displays, creating unforgettable memories against the festive backdrop.

The highlight of the evening was a heartwarming visit to Santa's workshop, where wishes were shared, and dreams sparkled in the eyes of these young hearts. The trip not only brought joy but also fostered a sense of wonder and community, making it a truly special experience for all involved.
