“Your encounter with Jesus doesn’t have to be in a church or in a church meeting. You can encounter Jesus anywhere,” said Adelita Contreras. “I encounter Jesus every day in and through my service to others.” Adelita has served at St. Helena Catholic Church for over 20 years in multiple ministries and was commissioned by Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, M.Sp.S. as a Lay Ecclesial Minister through the Institute for Lay Ecclesial Ministry and Service in December 2023.

Lenten Preparation for Young Adults
As we prepare for Lent, we want to offer some great resources to help young adults on their journey to Holy Week. Another way for young adults to prepare for Lent is a weekend of faith and fellowship at our “REFINE!” Young Adult Retreat! The purpose of this retreat is to enhance our relationship with the Lord and with other young adults who will accompany us on this journey of faith. Stations of the Cross
The Stations of the Cross, also known as the Way of the Cross or Via Crucis, commemorate Jesus's passion and death on the cross. There are 14 stations that each depict a moment on his journey to Calvary, usually through sacred art, prayers, and reflections. Join Archbishop Gustavo for Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent: February 16 - March 22 at 7:30 am at San Fernando Cathedral.

Webinar: The Eucharist and Catholic Social Teaching from the McGrath Institute.
In light of the upcoming National Eucharistic Congress, the McGrath Institute at the University of Notre Dame invites you this semester to discuss the fruits of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In the words of Pope Benedict, “A Eucharist which does not pass over into the concrete practice of love is intrinsically fragmented” (Deus Caritas Est, §14). In this first webinar, our speakers will explore the intrinsic connections between the Eucharist and Catholic Social Teaching, especially as it concerns the poor. In 2024, the National Community of Catechetical Leaders (NCCL) is introducing Professional Development Courses that provide a one-month focused learning experience. On February 6 and 13, instructor John Michael Reyes will talk about Catechesis on Prayer and Prayer Practices. The OCP Parish Grants Program is now accepting applications for 2024!
Applications are open to any Roman Catholic parish in the United States and territories, as well as college campus ministries such as Newman Centers that can demonstrate a consistent Mass schedule throughout the liturgical year – excluding those who received a grant in 2023. These grants can be used to support your parish music ministry through education, new music and worship materials, improvements to instruments and facilities, and more! "Me encuentro con Jesús todos los días en y a través de mi servicio a los demás". Adelita ha servido en la Iglesia Católica St. Helena durante más de 20 años en múltiples ministerios y fue encargada por el Arzobispo Gustavo García-Siller, M.Sp.S. como Ministro Eclesial Laico a través del Instituto para el Ministerio y Servicio Eclesial Laico en diciembre de 2023.

Preparación cuaresmal para jóvenes adultos
Mientras nos preparamos para la Cuaresma, queremos ofrecer excelentes recursos para ayudar a los jóvenes adultos en su camino hacia la Semana Santa. Otra forma de preparación es en un fin de semana de fe y compañerismo en nuestro "REFINAR!" Retiro para jóvenes adultos. El propósito de este retiro es mejorar nuestra relación con el Señor y con otros jóvenes adultos que nos acompañarán en este viaje de fe. Estaciones del Vía Crucis
Las estaciones del Vía Crucis conmemoran la pasión y muerte de Jesús en la cruz. Hay 14 estaciones que representan cada una un momento de su viaje al Calvario, normalmente a través de arte sacro, oraciones y reflexiones. El Programa de Subvenciones Parroquiales de OCP está aceptando solicitudes para 2024.
Las solicitudes están abiertas a cualquier parroquia católica romana en los Estados Unidos y sus territorios, así como a los ministerios universitarios como los Centros Newman que puedan demostrar un horario de misa consistente durante todo el año litúrgico - excluyendo a aquellos que recibieron una subvención en 2023. Estas subvenciones se pueden utilizar para apoyar el ministerio de música de su parroquia a través de la educación, nuevos materiales musicales y de culto, mejoras en los instrumentos y las instalaciones, ¡y mucho más!
