Kindergarten student Jamal Mian was honored at the April 15 Board of Education meeting.

Forest Elementary School student wins Infinitec Student Technology Achievement Award

Community Consolidated School District 62 student Jamal Mian was among those students selected from more than 80 school districts to receive the Infinitec Technology Achievement Award this month.

Jamal Mian, a kindergarten student at Forest Elementary School, will be honored on April 18 for his use of assistive technology. The annual banquet will be held at The Cotillion in Palatine.

“Jamal is a perfect example of how the use of a piece of technology can make things possible. With the use of his communication device, he is able to show us what he knows, build friendships and close an achievement gap that had existed due to his disability,” said Assistive Technology Specialist Erin Ballman.

Community Consolidated School District 62 is a member of Infinitec, which stands for infinite potential through technology. The assistive technology coalition works to advance independence and promote inclusive opportunities for children and adults with disabilities through technology. Infinitec operates as a division of United Cerebral Palsy of Chicago.
