Redecoration Project Update

Through the efforts of many, we were able to accomplish our primary objective and celebrate the normal schedule of Masses in the reconfigured church this weekend. The ushers noted that Mass attendance count was normal.

In the next few weeks, the focus will continue to be on the floor preparation as noted. The floor in the Sanctuary and the transition to the Nave are now essentially ready for the flooring contractor to measure for the marble and determine what preparatory work is required before installation. They will also be removing the altar rail for modification and re-installation later.

Concurrently, the final designs for the liturgical furnishings are being completed, and preparatory work is underway on structural elements. For example, the marble that will be used in the Altar, Ambo, and Tabernacle Stand is being cut and polished before carving can proceed.

Our goal is to create a welcoming environment that supports the various liturgies that occur within it, is balanced and appropriate for a Basilica, follows current liturgical guidelines, and respects the history of Sacred Heart.
