This year CCSC hosted six Food Fairs featuring fresh produce, bread and dairy products as well as partner agencies who provided our visitors with information on their unique services.
"Food Fairs are a great way to bring additional food to those in need while engaging volunteer groups and community partner agencies," Emergency Services-Southwest Manager Pat Weatherspoon-Hall said. "Visitors are always so grateful."
"This is the best," said Mary S. "I'm very thankful because I'm not working right now. I really need this."
In partnership with the Houston Food Bank, CCSC's Food Fairs fed 1,312 families this year with 53,891 pounds of food.
The following nonprofit groups distributed information about their services during CCSC Food Fairs: Houston reVision, Memorial Hermann Southwest Community Resource Center, United Against Human Trafficking, Justice For All Immigrants, The Rose, Civic Heart Community Services, Prosalud, and Baker Ripley.
Food Fairs would not be possible without the wonderful participation of our volunteers. Here are just some of the organizations and groups that helped us to help those in need: National Charities League, Inc., Grace United Church of Christ, Faith Lutheran Church, St. Luke's United Methodist Church, St. Luke's Gethsemane Church, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Houston Christian University, Houston Chinese Church, Bayon City NCL, St. Anne Catholic Community, River Oaks Baptist Church, St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Rice Temple Baptist Church, West University United Methodist Church, Source of Light Church Houston, NCL Heart of Texas, Bering Drive Church of Christ, University of St. Thomas, Connect Community, Regis School, Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, Bellaire High School, St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, and Mosaic Village Church.
A huge thank you to the hundreds of volunteers who sweated in the heat and bundled up in the cold to make our Food Fairs happen! If you are interested in volunteering at a 2024 Food Fair contact Volunteer Manager Keli Luce at volunteer@ccschouston.org.
