The Office of Family & Community Engagement would like to introduce a new spotlight series highlighting educators who are fostering strong and innovative family-school partnerships. This month, we are featuring the work of four leaders:
-
DR. PAULINE CHEUNG of Francis S. Key School for her “Saturdays at Key” program! One Saturday a month, their library is open for families to come read a book, play a game, or catch up on homework.
-
MS. ALIYA CATANCH-BRADLEY of Mary M. Bethune School for her commitment to opening a safe, functional school playground for her community!
-
DR. LATOYIA BAILEY of Benjamin Rush for her work in developing culturally responsive educators! This year, her staff is reading Unearthing Joy by Gholdy Muhammad and participating in discussion groups to build their capacity as equity-focused community partners.
-
DR. JENN REED of John Bartram High School for her research on perceptions of community within urban public schools!
