Funding for Coaching and Spiritual Direction
Pacifica Synod is investing in coaching and spiritual direction as one means of supporting faithful, resilient leaders in the church and the world. This pilot program allows for up to $400 per individual to subsidize sessions with a certified coach or spiritual director while funds last. We anticipate this will provide participants with 3-6 sessions with the coach or spiritual director, depending on their rate. This opportunity is open to both rostered and lay (non-rostered) leaders, such as administrative staff and congregational officers within the Pacifica Synod.

Coaching for All Seasons
Monthly Online Gathering for
Pacifica Synod Rostered & Lay Leaders
Thursday, February 1, 2024
at 11 am to noon (PST)/9-10 am (HST)
Faith-Full Youth
Confirmation youth and the faith of our young people is in a struggle of post-covid recovery, in a post-christian world.
How 'faith-full' are your youth?
How does faith formation play a role in your confirmation ministry?
Join us, February 1st at 11am, as we learn from Pastor Jane Prestbye, active in youth ministry since 1973 in Washington State.
Brought to you by your Pacifica Synod Coaching Team. Each monthly offering brings a presentation on a current topic and an opportunity to discuss it in a small group facilitated by an ELCA coach.
Jane Prestbye began working in church ministry with youth in 1973 and enjoyed the work until her retirement in 2023. She most recently served as pastor at Kent Lutheran Church in downtown Kent, Washington, and still resides there with her husband, Fergus. Jane has lived in Northwest Washington all of her life except for some months in Minnesota while studying for a Masters of Divinity at Luther Seminary. Her ministry included congregations in Bellingham, Seattle, Bothell, and Kent and as a faculty member at Trinity Lutheran College (formerly LBI) for thirteen years in the areas of Christian Education and Youth Ministry. She has had the privilege of leading international trips with young people to Israel and Palestine, the former Soviet Union, and Tanzania, Africa. Currently Jane serves on a community non-profit board, Kent Youth and Family Services, and she participates as a coach with the NWWA Synod ministry, Coach Northwest. Jane likes spending time with family and friends doing a wide variety of activities. She also delights in every opportunity to help people consider God's grace in and through their lives.

The (former) Grace Lutheran Church in Jurupa Valley has closed, but there is a treasure trove of items that are available to congregations and/or individuals. There are many ecclesiastical items: choir robes, altar furnishings, paraments, communion ware, etc. There are also room furnishings like a computer stand, ceiling light/fan fixtures, bathroom fixtures, folding tables, and chairs.
Grace will have two open houses, at which time people may come, peruse, or take anything they can use. Everything must go. The property has been sold, and the building will eventually be razed.
Saturday, January 20, 12:00 Noon - 3:00 P.M.
Friday, January 26, 1:00-5:00 P.M.
And so Grace's legacy will continue in congregations throughout the conference/synod.
