As our first season comes to a close, it's hard to believe it's over already! Luckily, we're extending our opening season from April through December, so we won't have too long to wait until our gates are open again, and happy guests are arriving once more. Now thats its quieter we have time to work on the trails and fences, marketing ,and learning the winterizing processes for the facilities.But also we are letting the amazing Cariboo inspire our, now much smaller, team for 2017 fall events.
Exciting changes are upon us with the purchase of the Marmot Golf Course, Restaurant & Pub. More will be said about that later, but we're thrilled to offer this new addition for the upcoming season.
In the meantime, I remain focused on the ranch, and all that we've learned from our opening season. After months of scouring trails, and getting lost in the back acreages, we've marked out several new trails, connecting old and new areas and expanding riding. I have been authorized for a dramatic herd increase of 20 animals by opening 2017 - so that means lots of horse shopping over the winter for me! This month the horses get their teeth floated as part of an amazing initiative put together by our guest, friend, and equine veterinarian. Each horse has had their preliminary exam, and will benefit greatly from the procedure.
I want to personally thank everyone for the support and praise we have received since opening; it is truly a remarkable honour to carry on and preserve the traditions of this amazing ranch.

There's still a little room to join the Thanksgiving tradition at The Flying U this year! Amazing home cooked food, crackling fires, crisp fall air, and maybe even Northern Lights! Come help us close the season right with a honoured ranch tradition.
October 7th: Giant bonfire in our back pasture.
October 8th: Traditional family-style Thanksgiving Dinner & Bob Westfall and Band pays at 8pm in the Lodge.

NEW TRAILS
Now that the summer rush is over we're ready to start putting in some new trail systems! We've scoured 40,000 acres by land and air, discovering some pristine areas, untouched as of yet. This fall we have put in 34 kilometres of great new trails and show no signs of stopping until the snow!
We're looking first to expand East, putting in new circuits to and around Little Horse Lake area.
With our neighbours new fencing system going into the "Cheyene Pasture" that trail circuit is being reworked as well, changing up the shorter, easily accessible half day rides.
To continue developing these shorter-ride options, we will be putting new trails into the "Gymkhana Pasture" as well.
New trails will also be going in South of Dunden Lakes to connect with the Nagi Trails, and running parallel but South of the Autoban to add more options to and from Moose Mountain.

DECEMBER AT THE FLYING U
Book your Christmas Party! Come for the night- or stay in the stove-heated cabins and enjoy the snowy Cariboo at one of the most scenic times!
We can accommodate groups up to 60 people; with a long list of local entertainers, and our renowned house chef. Also, to make this year winter ready we have winterized the saloon, the movie theatre the general store and the dorm. We are also offering 3 centrally heated executive buildings for people who want a little extra winter comfort. We even bought our own snow plow to keep things ship shape. The Flying U is the perfect place to host this year's Christmas Party.

FLYING U BUYS MARMOT RIDGE!
We have found that too many of our guests leave their non riding partners at home. So we have come up with an exciting way to add other activities for our guests. Now everyone can enjoy the Flying U Ranch experience!
Next year we will be offering free golf at our own golf course, The Marmot Ridge Golf Course, Restaurant & Pub. The beautiful tree lined 9 hole course is a short 25 minute scenic drive in one of our new complimentary shuttle vans. Then for a dining upgrade you can enjoy the golf course's new premium restaurant for a romantic dinner. And remember, you can enjoy a nice glass of wine because we'll be escorting you back to the ranch in our free shuttle.
So if you are a non-rider, or if you are a serious riders who would like a break from the trails, The Marmot Ridge will be a welcome addition to the Flying U.

NEW PRICING FOR 2017 - OCT. 15
This year our food costs for guests and our hay costs for our horses have increased dramatically. Therefore, we are forced to increase our base rates for 2017. However, youth and children's rates stay the same, and if you book now you can defer the increases to 2018 to help out your vacation budget.
We have many new complimentary activities we've added this year that were very well received, and we will continue to strive to make your vacation with us the most enjoyable part of your year!
You still have until October 15th to reserve at the old prices so plan your vacation with us now!
