A WORD FROM OUR GM
With the first warmer weather in months, we can't help but anticipate the springtime. This year is especially exciting, as we're opening the ranch to more guests, and in more ways, than ever before.
We've been working around the clock with our growing team to put together special packages and hospitality initiatives sure to make this our biggest year yet. But don't worry, our main focus is and always will be maintaining a top-quality herd, and consistently finding and improving new riding trails. Now, it's just that much easier to convince your loved ones to discover what you've known for years: The Flying U is truly a remarkable holiday destination.
We've got a lot more surprises up our sleeves, so stay tuned as we continue to announce exciting news and events for 2017.

ROPING CLINIC
The Flying U is hosting it's first ever clinic and we're inviting everyone to participate in this exciting weekend.
Flying U Package Includes:
Accommodation, meals, horse, cattle, ropes, recreation package, welcome package; single clinic and package options.
Level 1 Working Ranch Roping
By the end of this two-day clinic, participants will know how to rope, control, position, trip down, and doctor a steer, as well as removing their partners ropes from the tied down animal.
Horses will be conditioned to the rope and to dragging the dummy and steer.
Participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement upon completion of this course and will be able to continue to Level 2 Working Ranch Roping.
Level 2 Working Ranch Roping
- May 27 & 28, 2017
Skills will include three and two-man doctoring, cattle tracking on the end of a rope, long loop catches, hip loops, front foot catches, trap loops, fancy loops and catches.
Participants will learn how to trip cattle down without using a ground man, in order to do two-man doctoring.
Horses will learn how to properly hold the rope tight so that the rider can get off, treat the animal, remove the rope, and return to the horse. One man steer tripping and doctoring will round out the clinic.

THIS MONTH'S STAFF ANNOUNCEMENT
KIM HOLLAND RETURNING:
This year reviewers could not say enough about head chef Kim Holland's amazing homestyle cooking. Kim will be joining us for her third year in Flying U's state-of-the-art professional kitchen, and cannot wait for the lodge to be full once again.
Not that we ever doubted Kim's return, Kim is known to boast that The Ranch is her all-time favourite place to work, and she jokes about her plans to retire in the attic of her beloved staff house.
The one complaint? This ranch is not the place to come to loose weight!

SCHOOL'S ALMOST OUT - COME INTERN WITH US!
Our paid internship at The Flying U is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work on Canada's oldest guest ranch!
We're looking for a few mature youth and young adults (17-21yrs) to join our team.
Learn:
- Equine and small livestock husbandry
- Hospitality and customer service
- Grounds and property maintenance
- Small-scale marina and airport maintenance
Room and board is provided with a full meal plan and recreation package and spending money to boot!
