Hello Amanda,

Happy New Year! Our busy winter flight season is off to a flying start!

Due to our expected busy flight schedule and TSA staffing challenges we highly recommend passengers and transportation providers arrive at the airport a minimum of two hours prior to scheduled departure times.

This season all six of our partner airlines return with direct flights to 15 cities and 16 airports across the nation. United, Southwest, American, Delta, JetBlue and Alaska Airlines have all loaded their ski season flights for purchase and the current winter 2023-2024 flight route map and schedule can be found online at https://www.steamboat.com/plan-your-trip/getting-here-and-around/flights.

The updated flight schedule is below and subject to change throughout the season.

Terminal Area Plan

Our Terminal Area Plan (TAP) is complete! The TAP is the cornerstone of a much needed terminal expansion and addresses current and future requirements at the airport. The TAP sets the stage for funding, design and construction of a three-phase terminal expansion project starting in the near future. Our TAP calls for us to more than double the terminal size; adds three additional gates with jet bridges, significantly expands baggage claim and ground transportation areas, and increases the TSA checkpoint and ticketing capacities. All of the YVRA Terminal Area Plans on our website at https://flysteamboat.com/guiding-documents/; the second Public Open House presentation recording is available at this same link.

With an eye toward this major terminal expansion project, we’re excited to announce that we recently selected the team of Jviation, Inc. and Gensler as our Engineering and Architectural Consultants and look forward to starting the design process early in 2024.

Parking Access Revenue Control System (PARCS)

We completed the installation of a new Parking Access Revenue Control System (PARCS) in the paid, commercial, and employee parking lots just in time for the busy winter 2023-2024 flight season. This added approximately 170 additional parking spaces to the paid parking lot. The new PARCS is a simpler, faster, and more intuitive control system expected to speed entry and exit, and reduce customer frustrations and parking lot issues. To help cover the costs of the new PARCS and expanded parking lot facilities we are raising parking lot rates from $9/day to $10/day starting December 1, 2023; this is the first parking lot rate increase in over 10 years. The 30-minute parking area and the first hour in our paid parking lot are still free.

Rental Car Information

The number of rental car companies at the airport and their vehicle inventory capacities has increased significantly over previous years! We now host Avis-Budget, Hertz and Enterprise-National in the terminal. We also completed and opened a car wash facility for all our rental car partners. This, coupled with our on-airport rental car refueling station, now allows rental cars to be fueled, washed and detailed on-airport to speed turnaround times. Additionally, there is now 74% more car storage space in our rental car storage lots to support increased inventory and help meet the high demand for rental cars. These actions along with added capacity from our on-airport shuttle bus providers and many new off-airport For Hire Vehicle Operators will help address the ground transportation challenges at the airport; more info on available airport ground transportation is available on our website at  https://flysteamboat.com/parking-transportation/.

General Aviation Development Plan

Our General Aviation Development Plan project is complete! This project facilitates and encourages future aviation-related business development at the airport. The project brings an additional 25 acres inside our perimeter fence with direct aircraft access to the airfield. Phase 1 of the project has already been awarded and the developer is set to break ground on eight (8) new hangars in April 2024. A Request for Proposal (RFP) for development of Phase 2 is expected to be published in spring of 2024.

We’re excited to welcome new aviation-related businesses in Phase 2 of our GADP Development and highly encourage interested parties to review the General Aviation Development Analysis Final Report at https://flysteamboat.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/HDN-GA-Analysis-Executive-Summary_FINAL_2023-05-10_reduced.pdf and contact us at 970-276-5004 or kbooth@co.routt.co.us with any questions.

The Good Traveler

We’ve joined The Good Traveler (TGT) program as an Aviation Partner which allows passengers to purchase carbon offsets for their air travel to and from our airport (see thegoodtraveler.org). We linked with the Yampa Valley Community Foundation as our TGT non-profit partner which allows passengers to designate their funds be returned directly to projects here in the Yampa Valley; more information is available at thegoodtraveler.org

Look for QR codes and new posters about TGT in the terminal soon!
