A bill has been introduced in the Connecticut State Legislature that will end the statewide fluoridation mandate if passed, giving municipalities the ability to unilaterally decide whether or not to fluoridate the public drinking water.  Senate Bill 256 , an act concerning the addition of fluoride to the public water supplies, has been introduced by a bi-partisan team of co-sponsors in the Senate and has been referred to the Joint Committee on Public Health.    

A well-organized local advocacy group,  ConnFACT, is leading the campaign in support of this exciting legislation and they need your help.  Please read the message below to CT residents from ConnFACT, and please join the campaign for fluoride-free water in your state:

Dear Connecticut Residents:

We have the opportunity to be the first state in the nation to eliminate a statewide fluoridation mandate, getting CT residents one step closer to gaining access to clean, fluoride-free water. A bill, SB256, has been introduced for the 2015 legislative session to eliminate Connecticut's statewide fluoridation mandate.  We can't reverse the mandate without your help.

ConnFACT (CT Families Against Chemical Trespass) is championing this bill in the Legislature.  Our organization led the grassroots movement for the passage of the nation's very first GMO labeling law in CT and we're now on a mission to lift the fluoridation mandate.  In order to succeed ConnFACT needs your support.

Here's how you can help:

• Contact your legislator to let them know that you support lifting the statewide fluoridation mandate and urge them to support this bill
   
• Contact the Public Health committee members to encourage them to support eliminating the fluoridation mandate.
