Meet Our Student School Counselor, Miss Sierra Keele
"My name is Sierra Keele and I am a graduate student at Wright State University. I have been studying school counseling and will graduate from my program in Spring of 2025. I have a wonderful opportunity to work alongside the school counselors at Five Points Elementary and will be assisting Mrs. Nelson with 3rd and 5th grade students. This means I will be facilitating groups, meeting with individual students for check ins, and overall learning what it looks like to be an elementary school counselor. My passion for advocating for student success is what motivated my decision to be a school counselor, and I am looking forward to helping students develop their academic, career, and social emotional goals!"

Brave Boro Bunch - Military Student Club
Five Points Elementary is a Purple Star School that is determined to support our military families and students! In an effort to do so, we have created a military kids club where students who come from military backgrounds can join to connect with other children who face similar challenges and experiences. This club is called the Brave Boro Bunch. We would love to have your child join our Brave Boro Bunch Club. This club is intended for children of active-duty military families or recently retired military families. An informational flyer went home with students last week.
Please join us for our first official meeting after school on Tuesday, December 19th at 3:15 pm in room 226, Mrs. Hurley's room. This will be a student only event. Parents can pick up their child at 4:15 pm in front of the school. Students are encouraged to bring a snack! Our goal is to meet the third Tuesday of every month for the remainder of the school year, unless school is not in session.
See upcoming meeting dates below:
April:
Tuesday, April 16th
May:
Tuesday, May 14th
A flyer/permission slip for this club was sent home with students! The flyer/permission slip can also be found HERE. Permission slips need to be returned to Mrs. Duncomb, Mrs. Veren (4th grade teachers), or Mrs. Hurley. The Brave Boro Bunch will meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month, from 3:15-4:15) starting in December!

Health Services Update
Dear Parents & Guardians:
As we head into Winter Break, we wanted to remind everyone of the health guidelines for students attending school. Our goal is not to keep students from coming to school, but to do our best to keep all students healthy while attending. Coming to school ill is not typically productive for students. We are seeing Influenza A and B, Strep, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Pneumonia, COVID and many other viral illnesses. Please review the information below and if you have any questions please contact your student’s building Clinic Nurse.
Good Daily at Home Health Checks
- If your student is presenting with illness (cold, cough, headaches, body aches, sore throat etc.) or not themselves, monitor and contact your primary medical provider if the symptoms do not resolve.
- Check your child’s temperature. If the temperature is greater than 100 degrees, keep your student home until fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT fever reducing medication. NOTE: Many cold medications have Fever Reducing medication in the ingredients.
- Do not send your child to school after they have been given fever reducing medications.
- Don’t forget to notify the school if your student is home ill. If you have questions or concerns contact the Building Clinic Nurse via phone or email.
Return to school guidelines
- Students must be fever free (without fever reducing medications) for 24 hours
- Students who are experiencing Vomiting/Diarrhea: It is recommended that the student remain home 24 hours after their last episode of vomiting/diarrhea.
- If you have a doctor’s note, a diagnosis of illness is helpful to track and monitor illness during the school year.
- Don’t forget to get the Medical Note for any medical appointments and submit it to the Attendance staff at your students building.
Up to date information
- Please make sure that your child’s teacher and the school office have current emergency contact numbers at all times. When students are ill and needing to go home, this can become very challenging if we are unable to reach parents/guardians or Emergency Contacts.
- Please have a plan in place in case your child becomes sick at school.
Nursing services
The district employs a full time clinic nurse at each building. Our Clinic Nurses play an important role in keeping our students healthy and safe.
Contact information for Student Health Services Staff
We appreciate your help and continued support in keeping our students healthy and safe. We wish you a safe and healthy Holiday Season!
Thanks,
Bronwyn Patterson RN, BSN, CSN

Car Rider Drop Off in the A.M.
Parents who drive their child(ren) to school will begin the car line around the building on the WEST side - at Door 3 (gym). PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR CHILD IN THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING. Drop off may begin at 8:00 a.m. A staff member will be at Door 3 each morning to monitor arriving students. Students will go to the gym and will be monitored by a staff member until dismissed at 8:15 a.m. Parents will loop around the staff parking lot and exit out the west front exit. Please watch for students using our cross-walk.
Car Rider & Daycare Pick Up - P.M. - DISMISSAL
The car rider line will form around the front of the building to the West side staff parking lot. Please stay on the left side of the lane as you enter school grounds, and then you will merge into one of two lanes next to the curb. Staff members will be present to direct traffic in the front of the school. PLEASE have your car number displayed and ready to go at ALL TIMES as you proceed through the car line! Staff members will be collecting numbers as the line forms. Students will be dismissed in groups based on your position in line. For safety reasons, students must enter the car on the curb side only. Please follow the direction of our staff members to ensure a smooth pick-up process. Please DO NOT park in the staff parking lot and cross the line of traffic to pick-up your child(ren). You also may not park in the front of the school to pick up your child(ren). All car riders must follow this process in order to ensure the safety of all students.
When in the car line, please be cognizant not to block he handicap ramp located in the front of the school. This ramp should always be clear and not be blocked by any vehicles at any time. Additionally, when in the line, please be sure to pull up as close as possible to the vehicle in front of you in order to allow for as many cars as possible in our car line.
Please click here to review the route map for A.M. & P.M car riders.
End of the Day - DISMISSAL
Pick up at the end of the day should occur in our car line unless your child is a walker or is riding the bus home. Parents should not be parking and meeting students in the front of the building, or in the main office unless you were called for a sick child, you forgot your car rider number, or special arrangements have been made with administration. Students will not be dismissed to a parked car in the front lot. We appreciate your attention to our dismissal guidelines!
Change in PM Dismissal Communication
If you need to notify the school that your child(ren) will need to change the way he/she typically goes home from school, please contact the office 937-748-6090 as soon as possible. It is always best to send in a note for the change when advance notice can be given. You may also email our receptionist, Patty Wolpert. Having the communication in advance, helps us to ensure we are able to dismiss our bus fleet in a timely manner.
If you send an email to your child's classroom teacher of a schedule change, please include Mrs. Wolpert (pwolpert@springboro.org) on the email as teachers may not have an opportunity to check their email in the late afternoon, prior to dismissal time.
Daycare Communication ... IMPORTANT
If there is a change in transportation, or your child goes home prior to dismissal, please notify your daycare provider of the change. This notification is extremely important as it will allow for our bus dismissal to happen in a timely manner.
