Ready For School? Let Us Help!

Do you have a child with a disability or exceptionality starting school this September? Unsure what to expect? We can help.

Five Counties is hosting Ready For School Family Info Fairs at its sites on Aug. 20 (Peterborough), Aug. 21 (Cobourg) and Aug. 22 (Lindsay) from 4-6:30 pm. Pre-registration is required, and child care will be available. Families can:

Hear from other parents whose kids with disabilities or exceptionalities have successfully transitioned to school.
Ask questions of Five Counties clinicians, school board staff and others who support students.
Learn how to advocate for their child.
Access resources and learn about school-based resources.
Get on board a school bus to see what the ride entails.

Little Lakers Night Scores a Win for Five Counties

Thanks to our great community for supporting our second annual Little Lakers Night on July 11!

Little Lakers Night – a fundraiser for Five Counties held in partnership with the Peterborough Century 21 Lakers – raised $15,287 for local kids’ treatment services. That’s more than double the amount raised last year. All money goes to our Building Abilities for Life Campaign, which supports high-demand kids’ treatment services in the region.

Little Lakers Night featured Five Counties families participating in the ceremonial ball drop and backstage experience, facepainting, giant Lego and pass the bucket. A huge thank you to the Lakers, as well as event sponsors, silent auction donors, volunteers, staff and families for making this event a success!

Five Counties is pleased to announce seven recipients of its 2024 High-Five Community Recognition Awards.

The awards recognize deserving individuals and community groups that share the Centre’s commitment to inclusion, education, and respect for all children and youth.

Whether in the pool, on the gymnastics mat, on the playground, in classrooms and childcare settings, or online, inclusion is alive and well in our community! And we're all better because of it!
