It's August already! Whether you are moving, are starting a new semester, have children going back to school, or something else-- don't forget to add some fun into your schedule! August 4th-5th | Bellefonte
These 2 days feature arts and crafts vendors of all ages, including a section of youth artists between the ages of 8-17. There will be children's activities, music, food, and more.

$35 | August 5th | 2 PM- 4 PM | Martin's Garden Centre, Tyrone, PA
Learn the Bonsai basics in this two-hour workshop. History, tools, techniques, etc. will all be discussed. You only need to bring your questions. Space is limited, so sign up now!

August 5th | 11 AM- 3 PM | 200 Block of S. Allen Street
The State College Rotary Club's annual Ice Cream Fest fundraiser will offer sample treats from a variety of local places, including Meyer Dairy Store, Vale Wood Farms, Sunset Slush Happy Valley, and many more! Tickets are $5 for 5 tickets or $20 for 25. There will be children's activities offered such as face painting, balloon animals, and a Pinewood derby. There will even be an Ice Cream Eating contest! All proceeds benefit local non-profits and organizations.

August 5th | 7:30 PM- 9 PM | Boalsburg
All skill levels and ages are invited to join The Bike Roost for a glow ride around Boalsburg! Decorate your bike with glow-in-the-dark accessories which can be purchased at the event. All proceeds will go directly to the Boalsburg fire company.

August 5th, 6th, & 12th | Pennsylvania Military Museum
Join staff, volunteers, and partners of the Pennsylvania Military museum in commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act of 1948, the law that allowed women to serve as members of the Army, Navy, and Marine corps. Speakers will include Brigadier General Weigl, the Deputy Adjutant General for veteran affairs. Discover how Women's military experiences of the past "inform the legacy of the present" in these series of lectures and panels spanning across two weekends.

This free program will introduce participants to basic kayak fishing equipment as well as basic paddling skills and safety. Participants will also have the chance to try kayak fishing on the water. Registration is required and space is limited.

Centre County Dance will be hosting a ballroom dance which will consist of a half hour lesson to start, and general dancing afterwards. BYOB and bring a snack to share.

Test your knowledge of the Keystone State! Penn State play-by-play announcer Steve Jones will be hosting a quiz on all things Pennsylvania to celebrate the one-year anniversary of our State College bureau. Trivia teams can have 2-6 players and prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams. Come play, mingle, and enjoy the outdoor deck! All proceeds will support Spotlight PA's investigative and public-service journalism in State College and North-Central Pennsylvania.

After a 27-year hiatus, melodic punk/post-hardcore band Samuel has reformed as Samuel S.C., the added initials honoring their original home here in State College. Early in 2023 the band debuted their LP High Places, and anticipate more new music and shows to come. Join Samuel S.C as well as local supporting acts Cough Syrup, Crater and The Catalyst, and Adam Bugaj for a fun evening concert right in downtown State College. More information can be found below.

Housing Transitions is hosting their annual Food Truck Rally in the Valley! There will be 10 food trucks to choose from as well as music by Hops and Vines, a raffle, face painting, games, and more! Proceeds benefit Housing Transitions, a non-profit providing housing programs and supportive services to those in need throughout Centre County.

Are you a hiker or someone looking to get out into nature more? Enjoy the sights and sounds of a 20-foot tall waterfall located just off Route 80 near Loganton, Clinton County! Everyone loves a good BBQ. Is it really the Fourth of July if you don't have a burger, hot dog, or ribs fresh off the grill?
That being said, a good amount of responses indicated they do nothing for the holiday, and we just want to say we love your vibe. Sometimes you just need to take a holiday to relax. Or pretend we are comforting our pets during the fireworks. Whatever works.

If you have your space for 2023-2024 already, it is not too early to apply now for 2024-2025. This is a great way to beat the fall rush and gives you a better chance at getting the apartment/floorplan you want, as we assign based on order of application.
