Pastor's Corner

Friends,

I am back and still alive after a very busy, yet very good, annual conference session (ACS). As some of you know, I serve as the chairperson for worship on the Commission on ASC, meaning I organize the three major worship services and the morning devotionals, coordinate the band and other guest musicians, equip the team of volunteers, and herd the cats through rehearsals. If you thought I was M.I.A. this past week, this was why.

I did, however, have some time for fun and fellowship. There were several milestones to celebrate, including the retirement of my friend and mentor, Rev. Steve Lundin, and the ordination of two friends, Rev. Henry Pablo and Rev. Karla Lundin (yes, she's married to Steve). I was also able to join a group of fellow LGBTQ clergy for a lunch where we celebrated the changes in the Discipline and discussed how we can help our conference be more intentional with inclusion. It was also great to reconnect with colleagues and friends who I have not seen in some time.

Another highlight was Bishop Gregory Palmer of West Ohio, who served as the preacher for the Opening Worship and Memorial Service. His powerful words challenged us to keep our ACS theme, "Following Jesus", not just the main point at ACS but our main point as we move forward in the this new day in The United Methodist Church.

Lastly, I am thankful for Rev. Caiti Hamilton who came to preach at First Church. She had good things to say of her time here with you all.

I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.

ACS Ordination Snapshot
