Community Meal: Be Our Guest

July 16 | 6 PM | Family Life Center

We really had a fun Community Meal in June. It was joyful to see the Scholars & Athletes Serving Others (SASO) group serving our guests, the young family with children working in the kitchen, some of our Church members that attended and served as table hosts and the students' moms who pitched in where needed.

This month we are going to have a taco bar with lots of options for toppings. The SASO volunteers are going to work on the serving line. The guests love interacting with them!

For dessert we will be serving the famous sopapilla cheesecake. It is such a popular item. We need your help baking and delivering the dessert, so if you are able to we would love your help.

Young Adult Bible Study

Mondays | 7 PM | Church Office Conference Room

Join the Young Adults every Monday at 7 PM in the church office conference room for a dynamic Bible Study. Led by the passionate duo of Meg Hanna and Cheyenne Roth, this engaging study group offers a welcoming space for young adults to explore and deepen their understanding of the Bible. They are studying "Faith Foundations" by David Platt. The Young Adults will ponder questions like: What are we made for? What does it look like to know God deeply? Why are we called to reflect his light to those around us—and how do we do that? Join the group for this 10-week Bible Study as they examine foundational truths for becoming mature disciples of Christ.

Each month, they will take a scheduled Bible Study day for a service opportunity. Whether you're seeking spiritual growth, community connection, or simply a place to ask questions and share insights, you'll find a warm community. If you have questions, please contact Meg (mmochel13@gmail.com, 303-913-9930) or Cheyenne (cheyenne.051800@gmail.com, 817-559-4140).

Family Swim

Wednesdays | 2 - 5 PM throughout the Summer | Glade Pool

Each Wednesday during the summer, the City of Grapevine allows Grapevine Village families the opportunity to swim free at Pleasant Glade Pool (off Hall Johnson in Grapevine).

Over the years, we have driven the church van for kids requiring pool transportation. We pick the van up at 2:00 (at church), meet the kids at Shady Oaks Mailboxes, swim for about 1.5 hours, we hand out snacks, and then drop each child off at their trailer. Then, we return the van key to the church before 5:00 PM. The children must be eight years old to ride in the van and are always well-behaved. Two adults are required each week, one driver and one to ride along.

Please consider being part of this ministry. We would love it if you bring your children and/or grandchildren along! Would you also spread the word to your Sunday School Classes and Small Groups?

It is hard to describe this ministry; imagine being part of the most fun time of a child’s day! A Wednesday afternoon cannot be more fun! Please sign up below or contact Sue Schultz at seg1024@yahoo.com if you have any questions. Thank you!

Kenya Village Evangelist Sponsors Needed

We are currently in need of sponsors for our evangelists. The evangelists are located in both rural and urban areas and help bring Jesus to those who don’t know Him. These men and women have been responsible for planting many churches in areas that had not been reached. Our Iron Men group helped grow the program by raising funds to purchase motorcycles for the evangelists’ travel.

The cost to sponsor an evangelist is $125 per month. If you are interested in sponsoring or being a part of this program, please contact Mark Howe (mhowe@howewood.com) or Trudy Hughes (trudy.hughes53@gmail.com). They can answer your questions and get you set up to help spread the Word in Kenya!

Welcome to the First Grapevine Staff

We are thrilled to introduce and warmly welcome three new staff members to First Grapevine Methodist Church.

Jeff Roper, Chief Operating Officer

Jeff Roper will be our Chief Operating Officer, fulfilling an administrative role assisting Pastor Grant Palma and Pastor Zach Stiefel. Together with the pastors, he will manage the church staff team, allowing the pastors to focus on discipleship, pastoral care, missions, teaching God's word, and connecting with members and guests. Jeff's experience includes six and a half years of leadership and development at the United Methodist Conference, where he was responsible for Glen Lake Camp, financial management, and working with the Conference Finance Committee and Conference Trustees. He was also employed at Alcon Laboratories in a finance role for twenty-four years. We are excited to see how his expertise will enhance our operations and ministry efforts.

Ruth Cope, Administrative Assistant to the Pastors

Ruth will work closely with the pastors, assisting in daily administrative tasks and supporting our pastoral team. She will help schedule committee meetings and calendar events and activities. Ruth worked at the Irving Central Office as an administrative assistant to the ISD school leadership for thirty-four years, held an office manager position at a counseling practice, served as an administrative assistant at Barbara Cardwell Prep Center, and operated in administrative roles at Baylor Scott and White. Her dedication and organizational skills will be instrumental in helping our church run smoothly and efficiently.

Cathie Rosemann, Membership and Worship Administrative Assistant

Cathie will assist our choir and worship teams and coordinate weddings and funerals on our campus. She brings an extensive background in event planning, sales, and hospitality. Her previous roles at Metroplex Covenant Church in Colleyville, CrossCreek Church, and Iron Horse Inn Bed and Breakfast have equipped her with valuable skills and experience that will greatly benefit our church community.

We are excited to have Jeff, Ruth, and Cathie join us at First Grapevine and look forward to seeing how God will use their talents to further our mission and ministry.

Thrift Shop Volunteer Opportunities

The First Grapevine Thrift Shop has new opportunities that will greatly benefit our Grapevine Village neighbors and the broader scope of this long-time ministry. The Thrift Shop offers an incredibly large variety of products at truly "thrift" prices. Did you know that the Thrift Shop donated approximately $58,000 last year to our 4 Villages, many other First Grapevine ministries, GRACE, CONNECT in GCISD, and Meals on Wheels, and pledged to our stewardship campaign while covering all operating expenses?

The Thrift Shop will have an Independence Day sale on July 2 and 3, where items will be discounted by fifty percent. Current Thrift Store hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM and Thursday from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. In order to better serve our clients, the Thrift Shop would like to increase our Tuesday hours to be open from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. This will also increase our opportunities to bless additional ministries. In order to do this, we need your help. Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM, and shifts can be weekly or biweekly. Individual shifts are also available for signup through our Signup Genius link if you're unable to volunteer on a weekly basis. Volunteer roles include processing donations, stocking merchandise, engaging with clients, and assisting with checkout. Training will be provided.

If you're interested in volunteering with this impactful ministry and Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays are better for you, sign up to join our current awesome team! Contact Kim Crater (kimcrater73@gmail.com) for more information.

Feed Our Kids

God Was Big Enough for Big Week!

Thank you to everyone who made Feed Our Kids BIG Week a success! Together, we prepared and handed out about 4,000 lunches.

Our achievements wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering dedication of our staff and 344 volunteers, who served 740 hours, generously giving their time and energy to share God's love with the children and families in our community.

Thank you to our sponsor, First Grapevine Thrift Shop, for sponsoring Tikiz Snow Cones. We received discounts from Chick-fil-A, Grapevine Mills, and Marcos Pizza.
