Explore our different class options and find the right fit for you and your student!

Trimester Classes: offered during the fall, winter, and spring sessions following our production seasons. Classes will be from 6:00-7:30 on Mondays and Thursdays at off site locations in the KC area.

• Discovery Theatre - Ages 5-7
• Intro to Improv and Sketch Comedy - Ages 8-11
• Intro Group Voice - Ages 8-11
• Audition and Callback Techniques - Ages 12-18

Semester Studio: offered for the fall and spring session for 14 weeks each. Our three studios will offer classes which vary in length and classroom style, hosted at the First Act KC office or offsite.

• Acting Studio: Private Acting and Studio Hour - Ages 12-18
• Dance Studio: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Swing, Modern, and More - Ages 5-18
• Vocal Studio: Private Voice and Studio Hour - Ages 12-18
• Vocal Audition Rep - Ages 12-18

Daytime Academy: offered in the fall and spring for 10 weeks each. Thursdays from 9:30-11:00 AM at the First Act KC Studio.

• Intro to Improv and Sketch Comedy - Ages 10-14

After many years of devoted service to our First Act KC Community, Josie Strickler is stepping down as HEART Coordinator. Over the years, the HEART program has served over 150 families of students with disabilities, and is a pillar of First Act KC's mission. Without Josie's vision, passion, and guidance, none of that would have been possible. We are so incredibly thankful to her, and want to celebrate her work with CYT & First Act.

Join us Saturday, July 15th from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center to wish Josie well and thank her for all her years of service!

The First Act KC Giving Day is just around the corner! This is our opportunity as a community to come together and give together to build and expand the First Act KC Scholarship programs! 

#FAKCGivingDay will kick off when the curtain rises on the High School Master Camp production of Big Fish Saturday, July 22nd at 2pm. Until the curtain closes on Sunday, July 23rd (around 4pm), we will be asking students, alumni, parents, staff, patrons, friends and families to join us in Giving, Sharing, and Shining!

Would you consider how you can help us reach our ambitious goal of raising $10,000? Not sure what that might look like? Well here are a few ideas:

• Give! Just a $10 donation moves us closer to our goal!! Especially when your donation will be DOUBLED by a generous matching gift! Run your own fundraiser - lemonade stand anyone?

10:00-10:50 am: Acting Workshop

11:00-11:50 am: Vocal Workshop

12:00-12:50 pm: Dance Workshop

12:50 pm: By attending all 3 workshops students will put together a mini-performance that families can watch at 12:50pm.

1:00-3:00 pm: Reception for Josie Strickler, HEART Coordinator

3:30 pm: Ticketed Performance featuring Dance Company, Improv Troupe & Musical Theatre Troupe

Students ages 10-14 are invited to join us for Curtain Up Camp! Students will audition for, learn and perform Seussical Jr. in one week! There are two more chances this summer to join us in the world of Dr. Seuss!
