First Act KC August Newsletter: Here Comes Fall!

AUGUST 2023

Hello First Act KC family,

As we finish up our current season and look forward to a new season, I would like to take a moment to appreciate and celebrate those who have led and served on the First Act Theatre Arts Board of Trustees. Thank you, outgoing Board President, Jerry Lynch, for your leadership and dedication to the organization, and Will Easley, alum and board member who provided valuable input during the CYT to First Act KC transition. You will both be missed on the board, but we look forward to seeing you at First Act productions in the fall. Remember - once a member of the First Act KC family, always a member!

As I step into the role of new Board President, I am filled with excitement and optimism for the future of First Act Theatre Arts. I would also like to welcome new board members Cynthia Liggett and Michelle Wood. Both bring valuable skills and passion for the organization and I look forward to working with all board members to provide governance and support to First Act KC as we Dream Big in ‘23-’24!

Fall Class registration is in full swing! First Act KC offers classes for students of every availability level, so explore our offerings now!

Trimester Classes: offered during the fall, winter, and spring sessions following our production seasons. Classes will be from 6:00-7:30 on Mondays and Thursdays at off site locations in the KC area.

Discovery Theatre - Ages 5-7
Intro to Improv and Sketch Comedy - Ages 8-11
Intro Group Voice - Ages 8-11
Audition and Callback Techniques - Ages 12-18

Semester Studio: offered for the fall and spring session for 14 weeks each. Our three studios will offer classes which vary in length and classroom style, hosted at the First Act KC office or offsite.

Acting Studio: Private Acting & Studio Hour - Ages 12-18 - Limited Spaces Remain
Dance Studio: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Swing, Modern, and More - Ages 5-18
Vocal Studio: Private Voice & Studio Hour - Ages 12-18 - Limited Spaces Remain
Vocal Audition Rep - Ages 12-18

Daytime Academy: offered in the fall and spring for 10 weeks each. Thursdays from 9:30-11:00 AM at the First Act KC Studio.

Discovery Theatre - Ages 5-10
Intro to Improv and Sketch Comedy - Ages 10-14

Join us this Saturday, August 5th for MT Troupe Auditions!

Students ages 10-18 are eligible to audition for this select group who represent First Act Theatre Arts out in the community and at specialized performances.

For MT Troupe's second year, they will be performing at local festivals, Worlds of Fun, and travelling to Chicago to attend workshops, perform on a main stage and see a touring Broadway show!

It's time to apply for The Crew! The First Act KC Crew is a leadership group made up of up to 20 high school students with a desire to contribute to our organization and the KC community by serving and planning community events and fundraisers.

Applications are due next Friday, August 11th at 11:59 PM, no exceptions!
