Fire Aside Expands Partnership with Santa Clara County FireSafe Council To Support Wildfire Prevention Programs In San Mateo, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties

Expanded agreement also enables SCCFSC to sell Fire Aside’s product portfolio to all Fire Safe Councils throughout California

April 17, 2024, Saratoga, CA—The Santa Clara County FireSafe Council (SCCFSC) announced today it has entered into an expanded partnership with Fire Aside to market their full product portfolio of software for communities adapting to wildfire. This includes the Fire Aside defensible space & home hardening platform, ChipperDay, and resilience grant management. The partnership builds on the existing relationship to expand support for communities in San Mateo, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties as well as the California Fire Safe Councils.

Currently used in 20 California counties and 5 western states, Fire Aside’s Defensible Space Evaluation software replaces a previous manual process of forms and checklists with an interactive and easy to use product. Residents are empowered with clear, actionable information that is specific to their property, including photos of vulnerable items and associated risk levels so they can prioritize costs while getting useful education along the way. As a result, Fire Aside boasts 5x more resident wildfire prevention actions as a result of using the software and over 81% of residents surveyed in 2023 cited the Fire Aside generated Defensible Space report as what caused them to remove hazardous vegetation. Fire Agencies and Fire Safe councils can dramatically increase the velocity of evaluations and measure the impact of their wildfire prevention program which is critical for a 501(c)3 non-profit reliant on grant funding. The software reports on resident actions taken, measures compliance for grants while gathering actual structural and vegetation data at the ground level to target areas of highest risk and allocate resources efficiently and with impact. ChipperDay incorporates an online reservation system to manage all community fuel events from pickup to drop off, simplifying resident registration and updates. The ChipperDay field app optimizes routing and helps locate piles, with advanced reporting and analytics. The Fire Aside Grants module automates the workflow related to grant applications and reporting, making it easier for residents to apply, append documents, images and track their application status. Users can set custom parameters like which wildfire mitigation items qualify, what zones, and even which properties qualify. Along with standard tools for budget and tracking equity of applicants.

According to Seth Schalet, CEO of Santa Clara County FireSafe Council “We have had a highly successful three-year partnership utilizing Fire Aside’s product portfolio and have built a trusted relationship with Fire Aside’s team and customers. They have demonstrated an ability to incorporate new features and functionality, continually expanding their capabilities to support client interests. With this new expanded partnership, Santa Clara County FireSafe Council will now become Fire Aside’s exclusive partner for San Mateo, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties, in addition to expanding our ability to help all statewide Fire Safe Councils adopt Fire Aside to support their local wildfire resiliency and defensible space programs. This is the kind of evidenced based impact that we are incorporating throughout our wildfire product portfolio.”

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with the Santa Clara County FireSafe Council. Santa Clara County FireSafe Council was one of the early adopters of Fire Aside and has been a trusted partner, thought leader and integral to our product evolution. Expanding to other Fire Safe Councils and communities in partnership with Santa Clara County FireSafe Council is a natural progression, as we look to make access to resident friendly software more accessible for every community”, stated Jason Brooks, Fire Aside Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer.
