Join Cece Teneal for a concert celebrating the music of Aretha Franklin. In “Portrait of Aretha,” Teneal honors the Queen of Soul with personalized interpretations of songs from the 18-time Grammy Award winner’s 50-year career, including “Chain of Fools,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) a Natural Woman,” “Rock Steady” and “Until You Come Back to Me (That’s What I’m Gonna Do).”

Adelee & Gentry

Steele Memorial Bandstand
Lakeside favorite Adelee & Gentry return to the Steele Memorial Bandstand for a special Concert in the Park. The sisters, who grew up in West Alexandria, Ohio, as part of a musical family, started performing as a duo in 2006 when Adelee was 14 years old, and Gentry was 12. Since then, they have toured across the country singing on the stages of performing arts centers, college campuses and festivals.

Movie: "The Searchers"

This week, Lakeside will feature the movie “The Searchers.” In this 1956 American western film, an American Civil War veteran embarks on a years-long journey to rescue his niece from the Comanches after her family is massacred in a raid on their Texas farm. The film stars John Wayne, Jeffery Hunter, Vera Miles, Natalie Wood and Ward Bond. (NR, 1h 59m) The movie is free to attend, but donations are appreciated.

Amos & Dietz

Steele Memorial Bandstand
Join Megan Amos and Emily Dietz for a concert in Bettinger Park. This recital will feature music from baroque and light classics to familiar favorites. Learn all about the horn instrument in a relaxed and approachable outdoor setting. Amos has been the principal horn player of the Toledo Symphony since 2019 and Dietz has been a member of the horn section since 2000.

Big North Band
7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 6 Hoover Auditorium
Big North Band has been entertaining audiences with their classic country sound since 2008. Inspired by Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, Big North Band formed to preserve traditional country music. From tales of cowboys to traveling along the lonesome highway, the “story” has always been the heart of country music for the group.

The Drowsy Lads
7:30 p.m., Friday, June 7 Hoover Auditorium
The Drowsy Lads, known for their spirited arrangements, original bluegrass compositions and true obsession for traditional Irish music, returns to Lakeside. Each Lad is a multi-instrumentalist, and the combined lineup includes fiddle, button accordion, tenor banjo, flute, whistle, guitar, bouzouki, uilleann pipes, 5-string banjo, concertina and bodhran.

Historic Barns in Ottawa County Exhibit

A collection of Dr. Robert Kroeger’s paintings of Historic Barns in Ottawa County are on display.
Kroeger travels in search of historic barns and their stories in many states, but mostly in Ohio. Each year, he completes hundreds of oil paintings of old barns and documents their stories in essays in an effort to preserve their histories – since so many barns are vanishing. Read more.

Ottawa County Day
Saturday, June 1
Lakeside will again open its gates and offer free admission and parking to Ottawa County residents on Saturday, June 1. If you live nearby, take advantage of all Lakeside has to offer. Visit the Welcome Center in the South Gate Parking Lot off Route 163 to pick up passes and an events schedule. Proof of Ottawa County residence, such as a valid driver’s license or bill with home address, is required.

Bird Walk

Lakeside Schoolhouse
Join local birding experts, Martyn and Morgan Drabik-Hamshare for a morning Bird Walk around Lakeside. Martyn and Morgan will lead a hike around the trails and parks of Lakeside, help the group find and identify birds, and learn interesting facts along the way. Some of the species hikers may see include Bald Eagles, Baltimore Orioles and Cardinals.

Great Lakes Marine Exhibit

Hoover Auditorium Lobby
The National Museum of the Great Lakes in Toledo, Ohio, has been receiving paintings of Great Lakes scenes since its inception in 1944. From May 24-June 15, the museum will showcase its collection in the lobby of Hoover Auditorium. The exhibit is open to the public from 12-2 p.m. Tuesdays on June 4 and 11, and a half-hour prior to all Hoover shows.

Chautauqua Lecture Series: The Wild West

During this week’s Chautauqua Lecture Series, speakers will discuss the Native Peoples, American settlers, wildlife and how the west was changed.

Lakeside welcomes Rev. Dr. Angela Williams Gorrell, author, speaker and public theologian as Preacher of the Week from June 2-6. This week’s preacher is supported by Steve & Jane Anderson.
Gorrell will lead the 10:30 a.m. Chautauqua Community Worship Service on Sunday, June 2 in Hoover Auditorium. Join Gorrell for Faith for Living Hour at 9 a.m. Monday-Thursday in Orchestra Hall. Her theme for the week is "Joy." She will also give the sermon "Rejoice? How?" at Vespers by the Lake at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Steele Memorial Bandstand.

Rhein Center Art Classes
The C. Kirk Rhein, Jr., Center for the Living Arts is located in historic Epworth Lodge at 125 W. Sixth St., on the corner of Walnut Ave. and Sixth St.
The Rhein Center provides a wide variety of classes in fine arts, crafts, performing arts and special interest classes for students of every age throughout the summer. Classes fill up very quickly, so register before you arrive.

Fishing 101

Lakeside Dock
In this program, learn from Dave Kintner about Ohio fishing regulations, necessary equipment, types of bait, species of fish and what to do with the invasive Gobies. This program is for all ages and does not require pre-registration. Children ages 12 & under must be accompanied by an adult and anyone 16+ must have an Ohio Fishing License. Non-swimmers are encouraged to wear life jackets.

Waterfront
Certified reflexologist Dawn Cordero leads Beach Walk sessions at 9:30 a.m. Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays through June 7. Lakeside’s sandy and rocky waterfront beach are amazing for bare feet. This half-hour session releases tension in the feet, body and mind. Many leave this Beach Walk feeling like they’ve had a full body massage.

All Levels Yoga

Chautauqua Park
This 75-minute all-level Sivananda Hatha Yoga Class incorporates the five aspects to healthy living, including proper breathing, relaxation and exercise, through stretching, strengthening and balancing postures. Bring a yoga mat or blanket, props and a bottle of water. It’s best to dress in comfortable layers and do not eat at least one hour before class.

Lakeside Chautauqua requires guests and residents to purchase a Chautauqua Pass and Auto Pass to enter the grounds between May 24-Sept. 2, 2024. There are a variety of passes to choose from depending on the length of your visit. Guests ages 4 & under and 90 & older enjoy free admission. View 2024 Admission & Parking Fees.
Purchasing a Chautauqua Pass includes access to the grounds, entertainment in Hoover Auditorium, the Pool, Wellness Center, and a variety of religious, educational, cultural arts and recreational opportunities.
For your convenience, purchase Daily, Weekly and Season Chautauqua Passes and Auto Passes online. You can also purchase passes at the Hoover Ticket Office, located at 115 W. Third Street, or upon entering the gates. All passes are valid from the date of use until 7 p.m. the following day.

The complimentary Shopping/Dining Pass has been extended from 90 minutes to 2 hours! This will provide you more time to shop, dine and explore Lakeside. Please note that an Auto Pass is not included, and this pass does not include access to Hoover Auditorium entertainment or the pool. Pick up a Shopping/Dining Pass from the Fifth Street Gate, South Gate or Welcome Center.

The Fifth Street Gate is going cashless, so bring your credit or debit card to make transactions. Cash will still be accepted at the South Gate and Welcome Center.

At the Fifth Street Gate, there will be fast pass lanes for online/prepaid Chautauqua Passholders and Season Chautauqua Passholders. Order your passes online before you arrive. A dedicated lane will also be available for those purchasing passes at the gate.
