October Years of Service

Congratulations to Jeff Anderson on 10 Years of Service at Kaua'i Community College for the Month of October.

2023 MAKANA Waipā: Eat the Invasives

This was the first Fall 2023 event that our Culinary Arts program went to. MAKANA Waipā is an ahupua‘a culinary journey raising awareness of invasive species and Waipāʻs signature gala dinner. Chef Mark Oyama was one of the featured chefs, and our Culinary Arts program students aided chefs where needed.

Taropy Tuesdays

When: Tuesday, Oct. 10 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Where: Campus Lo'i

Please join us at the campus lo'i for Taropy Tuesdays (2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month) from 3:30 - 4:30pm. Spend the hour connecting with our Kauai CC 'ohana and 'āina.

National Coming Out Day Awareness

When: Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Where: Campus Center Room 212

Gender expression, sexual orientation, and gender identity should never be barriers to anyone living a full life. Coming out or inviting someone in is a personal choice and is a significant part of reclaiming autonomy and living one's authentic identity publicly. In recognition of National Coming Out Day, KCC's PRISM Club is inviting you in for a Come Out for Pizza Party on October 11 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Campus Center Room 212 (upstairs, next to the Student Life Center and Lounge). Be proud of who you are and show your support for LGBTQ+ equality this National Coming Out Day by joining us in sharing our authentic selves with others.

UHCC Admin Campus Visit

When: Friday, Oct. 13 from 9:30 - 11 a.m.

Where: OCET 106 C/D

Join the acting Vice president and Associate Vice President for Administrative Affairs for a talk story session in OCET 106 C/D from 9:30 - 11 a.m. They will share enrollment and performance data and will provide updates on system initiatives and the budget. Board of Regents Meeting

When: Thursday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. - noon

Where: Fine Arts Auditorium

Kaua‘i Culinary Market at The Shops at Kukui‘ula

When: Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 3:30 - 6 p.m.

Where: The Shops at Kukui`ula

Our Kaua'i CC Culinary Arts program will be assisting featured Chef and 2023 James Beard Award semifinalist Chef Melissa Miranda. Chef Miranda is the Chef/Owner of Seattle’s premier Philippine cuisine restaurant “Musang.”

Pa‘ina Gala

When: Friday, Oct. 27 from 5:30 - 9 p.m.

Where: Kaua`i Community College Campus

This year, the Pa‘ina will take place at Kaua'i Community College from 5:30 - 9 p.m. This event will feature the students of Kaua'i CC's Culinary Arts Program, as well as a team of all wahine chefs from the Mainland, O‘ahu, and Kaua‘i. A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit the culinary program, and students in need of financial assistance.
