A nonprofit, nongovernmental organization, CIEE has been offering quality educational programs since 1947. They have helped students of all ages gain the knowledge, skills, and vision necessary to live and work in our interconnected world.

CIEE: Summer Study Abroad General Scholarship Overview
Global Navigator Scholarship applications are open for students who want to study abroad during their 2020 summer break! Any high school student is eligible to apply for a CIEE scholarship. Funds will be awarded based on merit and on financial need and can cover between 10-100% of tuition fees.
CIEE
has over 71 years of experience in international exchanges, handles all aspects of the program and travel, and offers start-to-finish support – insurance, great attention to safety, and 24/7 support lines.
What are CIEE High School Summer Abroad Programs?
- 3 to 4 week full immersion programs in more than 50 exciting global destinations
- Program themes include language learning, service learning and topics such as STEM, visual arts, international relations or business.
How does this work?
- The student you nominate will be expected to travel on a summer abroad program if they win a scholarship, so make sure you nominate a student who is open to the opportunity and excited about studying abroad.
- You can nominate one deserving student, as long as they qualify to study abroad on a CIEE program. Students with a passion for global discovery and an eagerness to learn outside the classroom make strong candidates. The prize is open to freshman, sophomores and juniors only. Seniors are not eligible.
- Nominated students are eligible to be awarded a Global Navigator Scholarship to study abroad with CIEE- scholarships are based on merit and need and can cover 10-100% of program tuition. Scholarships do not cover flight costs.

Service & Leadership
In community projects in the Dominican Republic, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, Tanzania, India, South Africa, or Thailand, students help to make the world a better place and develop lifelong skills that will serve them as global citizens. Service projects focus on community development, the environment, children’s rights, or education, and students earn a certificate for 50 hours of community service.

Global Discovery
Students explore a personal interest in places such as London, Portugal, Prague, Costa Rica, Russia, Brussels, or Dublin and may even get a head start on a career! Programs include Creative Arts Studio, Digital Filmmaking, Global Entrepreneurship, Wildlife Conservation, Aquatic Ecosystems and Sustainability.

Language & Culture
Whether your child is interested in Spanish, French, Mandarin, German, Japanese, Italian, or Arabic, language and cultural immersion programs are the best way to build language fluency and cultural competence. Upon completion, your child will come home with a certificate showing growth in language proficiency and new cultural insights. Students can opt to receive 4 college credits for their 4-week program.
