Hi Neighbors,

As Summer comes to a close I want to share my thanks to our students, parents, and school staff for another successful back-to-school season.

From welcoming students at our many back-to-school events to supporting families with school supply giveaways, I am committed to ensuring every student has the resources and support they need to thrive this year.

My office partnered with our San José Fire Department and local businesses to provide school supplies, haircuts, and a little extra fun with some movie nights for students and families (pics below!). A huge thank you to everyone who donated to our Back-to-School Supply Drive with Sharky's Coffee.

Our local businesses build a sense of community and create a vibrant District 8. Help support a local business and visit Sharky's Coffee or stop by Faded Barbershop! From classroom to storefront, we're committed to fostering a thriving community for all.

Lastly, don't miss out on our final round of our 2024 Music in the Square series this Friday with Eastside Funk. We are also hosting our last movie night of August showing the Pixar movie Monsters University.

Best,

Domingo Candelas

Earlier this week my team and I worked with neighbors to inform our City staff of an immediate health and public safety hazard on Cunningham Ave.

Thanks to this fast action, we were able to have the space fully cleared within 24 hours of reporting. Thank you to the neighbors who notified our team and our City staff for promptly responding.
