God's Truth is Marching On

In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the sea,

with a glory in his bosom that transfigures you and me;

as he died to make us holy, let us live to make all free, while God is marching on. Glory hallelujah!

God’s truth is marching on.

-from “Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory”,

If a Storm Comes

As the hurricane season unfolds, the SCAPC staff wants to ensure that our congregation stays in touch should an evacuation from New Orleans be needed. Please check your SCAPC directory information on the SCAPC app or online directory (especially your cell phone number and email address) and send any updates to Camille Zander, Membership Coordinator, camille@scapc.org.

If you want to let SCAPC know whether you are staying or leaving town, or have a need with which the Congregational Care Committee might be able to help, or know of a pastoral care need or become aware of an emergency need in our community, please email, text or call Miriam Hollar, Parish Associate for Pastoral Care, miriam@scapc.org or 231-330-5754. Please include any contact information.

Men's Summer Clothing Needed

For the month of July, we are collecting donations of men's summer clothing, especially tees, polos, jeans, pants, and shorts (no suits, please) for our community ministry partner, Program of Hope homeless ministry. Items can be placed in the donation bin by our chapel entrance on State Street. To learn more about Program of Hope, visit their webpage at fpcno.org/hope.

Youth Travelling to Conference

This Sunday, four of our youth (Sadie Duvernay, Rhys Breaux, Liam Kennedy, and Regan England) will head out with Rev. Ashley and other local Presbytery leaders to Mo-Ranch’s Junior High Jubilee Conference. Please keep them in your prayers as they grow in friendship and God’s love with other middle schoolers!

Youth Peace Project

The church is trying to put together a gallery of sorts this fall demonstrating all the different places we find “peace” in our world, and we want our youth to be involved. So we have a mission for each of our youth this summer: Find one person, place, thing, or activity that brings you PEACE and send it to Chris Hazlaris via text or email. It can be a photo of your summer camp, your dog, your favorite free time activity, or an individual that makes you feel calm and safe – anything works! Our plan is to make a collage of these for the church and our families to see upon returning from vacation.

Playground Playdate: July 14

The Spiritual Formation Committee is hosting a Playground Playdate on Sunday, July 14 from 4-6 p.m. at Danneel Park Playground!  Families with children of all ages are invited to join in the fun. BYOB and snacks! Please email Pastor Sarah with any questions or to RSVP.

Water Bottles for Okra Abbey

Avery Beuerman and Beth Wren kicked off our water drive for Okra Abbey! Please join them in stocking the Abbey's Community Fridge with water bottles. You can sign up at this link for a slot to donate and deliver a case of water. The Okra Abbey community fridge is located at the corner of Hickory and Monroe Streets in the Pigeon Town neighborhood. Reach out to the Okra Abbey Team (okraabbey@gmail.com) with any questions or concerns.
